HTC Touch clone upgrades.
 

Hi,
I have recently purchased a chineese tri-band GSM phone running Win6.1 which looks exactly like HTC Touch ELF one, even specifications are direct match.
On the site they claim the phone is ROM upgradable, but no technical information or support is offered.
I am a bit reluctant to go straigh forward upgrading the phone to cooked ROM, fearing I will brick it.
Can anyone share any ideas or sites I can get the information required in order to select the right ROM version, please? Is it possible to extract current ROM information in order to match phone's hardware?

P.S. I guess the main question is how can I check which ROM is compatible with the clone or which exact HTC model was clonned?

Great info man. I think this upgrade techniques and the looks is similar as another HTC model. So basically that is really a great thing that you have shared with us.
