Sprint Extras.cab...wth does it do?!

ive been racking my brain (and my phone) trying to figure out what this .cab file does. Could anyone tell me?

it's very similar to DCD's Sprint carrier cab.....it's not identical but close....add's UpdatePRL, UpdateProfile.

Is extras.cab necessary if you have carrier.cab?
