SD card error, how do I fix?

I have an error coming off of my SD card when I try to open the "My Documents" folder on my sd card. Here is the error message; "Error 13 changing to dir!". this is when I am using Total Commander. When I try to access the folder in any other way the folder appears to be empty. The weird thing is the rest of the folders are readable and fine. Can anyone tell me how to get my information out of this folder. thanks.

IMMEDIATELY back-up everything you can on the card. Try different methods to recover the contents of the affected folder (copy the contents, rename, etc) and format the card afterwards. It sounds like you have corrupted sectors which can be addressed by formatting the card (not quick format).

+1 The chances of recovering what was in that folder are slim to none, back up what you can now.

yeah I back up everything as soon as a noticed the problem. I was unable to get anything out of the folder no matter how many different tricks I did. Now when I attept a full format while in my laptop I get and error message at the end saying "unable to complete the format". Bummer the card is probably shot.

Who is the manufacturer of you card? I know SanDisk has a warranty you can call in. You have to send it in first but they return a new one for you.

IT is a Sandisk. This is the second 16gb micro that has gone bad on me in the last year. :(

If you backed up everything, take the SD card and put in in your computer, do a scan disk and check for errors before formatting. I had a strange problem with one of my 8gb sandisk MicroSD cards and was having problems reading files. After a scandisk, it came back and all my data was fine.

Your results may varry but, it's worth a shot..

Pop it out, put it back in, hard reset.
