yet another iphone link...

http://tech.msn.com/products/article...entid=21028950

nothing we didn't already know (except I didn't know you can't attach files to emails), but just reaffirms the "cool" iphone.

Just info for people who may want to get one, I'm not trying to overly bash the phone or tell anyone they're an idiot for having one.

Agreed...I recently took the plunge and switched from my touch pro ti a 16GB 3GS. I am so happy I did and dont look back at all. The iPhone gets a bad rep in these forums, and its completley unwarranted. I was the same way...I talked crap about it too...but when it comes down to it...the iphone is an AWESOME device

yeah the iphone is a decent device for sure, would be cool just to have a 2G to play around with at times, but it would just get too boring too fast. at first its the coolest phone ever, then a couple of weeks later it's just another phone.

thats what happened to me... i tried everything to like the iphone and see what the big deal is... yeah, ok, its a fluid, well-developed device, but it just loses its flavour after a couple weeks.

I guess i'm one who likes to be unique... and i hate "falling in" to the crowd.

The only thing the iphone (Apple) has over any other device/manufacturer is that they are an industry standard. Cars come iphone/ipod compatible with an ipod interface, and TONS of home stereos and boomboxes are ipod/iphone only. You know how many times i've seen and cool lil speaker set i wanted to put in my apartment but couldn't because it was only for Apple products? I CAN'T EVEN COUNT!

And because of that, everyone and their Grandmother has an iphone or apple product. I get elderly (65+) coming into my Verizon store asking about the iphone... and that just gets me fumed! (not at the customer of course :P )

As I have said in other threads.
Neither the iPhone or WM phones are bad devises. Hell, I can make each one do something the other can (in someway). May have to do some tweaking (goes for both) to get it done but it's possible.

What it comes down to is what carrier somebody is on, and picking a device they will be happy with.

true enough, I was looking to switching to T Mobil (if they get the HD2 and sprint doesn't) and ill probably get a cheap unlocked iphone to play around with as well, would be fun to have both.

I am thinking about picking up the HTC Pure or the Tilt 2.....I really like HTC phones just not sure if I want to spend that much.

you should be able to get a WM device on the cheap somehwere I'm sure and just shove your SIM card in it. Depending on when your contract is up, I don't think I'd ever spend the kind of $ people and companies are asking for on a device, but I'll wait to sign a 2 year to get the HD2 then sell my diamond and spend that money on an android or iphone or whatever. I think it's pretty insane to pay like $600 for a "NIB 3GS!!!!" when I could get a used 2G for like $100 or less and jailbreak/unlock it and do the same things...

Yea a 2 year extension, but I plan on staying with AT&T...and I already asked them if I would be dinged with an early termination fee on current contract, and the e-mail I got states in black and white that I won't.....

Not to stir the pot but I have too!!!! :)

All I can say is I love my iPhone!!!! It always works, I never have to reboot it and the battery lasts all day long. Now, AT&T on the other hand is a different story - I average about 2 dropped calls a day, never had this issue on Sprint or Verizon.

However, put a device like the iPhone on either one of their networks and it too would come to its knees!!!

True.
I was reading somewhere that 3% of the iPhone users take up 40% of the cellular bandwidth on the AT&T network......I am sure I am part of the 3%, I am CONSTANTLY using the thing and network services, like browsing, e-mail messaging and more and more....

Yeah, I only have Edge, and I'm still always using data on it. Trying out a million apps, web, email, games... it adds up quick.
