Need Internet and advice
I have an Android Tablet so...I would like to travel with it and get internet not only at a hotspot but also driving in the car (not using while driving of course (-:)
First off I have an old HTC Touch pro 2 that i had on Boost for the $50 plan...I don`t have that service anymore but still have the phone.. I don`t want to pay an arm and leg (i see there are $30 to$40 plans that's OK) What Company/Plan/Phone would you suggest so I can tether and use my android Tablet.. Maybe I could use the HTC TP2 somehow? Hope tis makes sence.. Thanks Billy. |
Re: Need Internet and advice
I did some research and can anyone tell me if this would work..
If I got one of these LG Optimus V Prepaid LG Optimus V Android Phone | Virgin Mobile And got there $35 unlimited Web,Data messaging & email..The 300 min calling I am not interested in. Prepaid Cell Phone Plans | Unlimited Data | No Contract | Virgin Mobile Then got PDANet for tethering.. Would this work? Thanks Billy. |
Re: Need Internet and advice
The best option if you have a TP2 is to find yourself an old Sero plan.
To tether it to your Android tablet you will need to either load Android on the TP2 or on the tablet load up wpa_suplicant fix. |
Re: Need Internet and advice
Thanks gTen...
I have looked everywhere for that Sero plan but looks like they don`t do that anymore.. Also I have the TP2 duel booting Win and Android... If I had stayed with boost I would have had that down to $35 by now with there Shrinkage plan angry9: I spoke with someone on another site and she said she has the LG Optimus V Android Phone | Virgin Mobile But I am still waiting to hear if she has the $30 plan.. Thanks Billy. |
Re: Need Internet and advice
The thing about virgin mobile is they will throttle you at I think 2.5gb and no roaming. Sprint Sero is the best option if you can find a way to buy it off someone.
If not see if someone has a shrunk boost mobile plan you can buy? Otherwise there are other options depending on your area...t-mobile has a plan that allows 4g for 30$ a month prepaid. They throttle past 5gb though. There is also republic mobile which uses combination of wifi and sprint for 20$ a month. (Not sure how possile wifi tethering will be due to use of wifi in some spots but bluetooth and usb tethering might be possible...but again Im not sure) |
