Rooting

Hi I am new to rooting, don't know a thing about it. Read some articles and rooted with oneshot, worked well. My phone is an HTC Dream on MTN. I downloaded Rom Manager and tried to install it tells me 'cannot install this application on this device' How stupid am I? what am I doing wrong. Please help
