Kernels

For Christmas I got my wife the LG Optimus S. I already have it rooted and am looking to get her something a little better than what the stock rom offers.

I know there are some kernels out there (like Netarchy) that can do trickle charge and just run better than stock kernels. Can I drop one of these onto the Optimus without having to update the stock Rom?

If not, can someone point me in the direction of custom roms for this phone?

Re: Kernels

afaik the only custom kernel we have at the moment is the xionia kernel on androidcentral. it is an overclocked kernel with some tweaks and optimizations.
