LG will upgrade all Optimus One smartphones currently using the Froyo OS to the next version of the Android OS, Gingerbread. Details of the upgrade schedule will be announced locally in due course. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and misunderstanding that was caused regarding this issue.

Are you sure this is for the Optimus S? It states its for the Optimus One which of course is a different phone.

ya Id say you answered your own question..

VZW has the LG Vortex, TMO has Optimus T, Sprint has Optimus S... and I think I read USCC is getting one too... all are part of the Optimus One Line..

...Think Galaxy S or Touch Pro 2.... every carrier had one

with Gingerbread so close(SDK is out, just saw an unknown Tablet running it, and nexus s will probably ship with it) AND LG making an official statment already on it.. Id say few(like 2-3) months MAX...

LG making the statement means theyve probably already had it for a minute.. then its gotta goto Sprint>then Us..

Sprint will probably get the Epic's 2.2 out of the way first, then EVOs 2.3, then Optimus..

Its all speculation though right now..

I'm working on getting my wife an Optimus S.. I currently have an Epic and I'd definitely throw a caniption fit if my Epic only get's 2.2 and my wife's (soon to have) Optimus S get's gingerbread...

But, samsung has never really been good at updates <rolls eyes>
