Which Android Tablet would you get?

Similar to my same question in the EVO subforum, but I wanted a wider opinion as well. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-evo-4g...d-you-get.html

As an Android Device owner, which of the existing (or soon to be released) Android Tablets would you considering buying?

Personally I had no real idea or desire to look into them until I saw some postings about rooting the B&N Nook Color.. (all it's fault I tell you!)

So now I have gotten to back-tracking on other devices. After having my EVO and practically never using my PC/laptop anymore. A tablet seems very viable, especially with certain games (pocket legends, lol) as a everyday device.

I would like your opinions as fellow Android users.

thanks,

-CC

EDIT: Didn't get a chance to get much feedback from EVO community, thread was closed. Hope we can get some "android user's" opinions. Personally I am looking really hard at the Barnes & Noble Nook Color.

Re: Which Android Tablet would you get?

I have been itching for a tablet The nook is tempting. Just unsure if there will be good development. Funny an ereader would be more appealing than the samsung (kind of just a larger version of my evo inmo). I decided I would use a tablet to offload internet browsing and manage notes and calender and tasks, which i currently do with my 12" laptop. I am also considering this:

Re: Which Android Tablet would you get?

The nook color has had great reviews, now that it has been found to be able to completely boot off SD. It means great things for developers/users to load up custom roms without actually messing with the unit's firmware. Some devs are already picking this thing up.. Quickly becoming the "darling" of XDA.

Wish list; bluetooth, cam/cameras (for skype vid conferencing), microphone, OTG USB Host, are some things I wish it had..

Re: Which Android Tablet would you get?

Having used both tablets and netbooks, I tend to lean toward the netbook. Both are of similar magnitude to the material and size, but really is not a substitute for a keyboard when productivity or ease of use is concerned. The concept seems to be a whole tablet large cell, which has no great capacity to maximize the efficiency of the keyboard.

I own a Sprint Galaxy Tab and very much like it.

I looked at the iPad and an Asus netbook, went with the Asus due to a 256gb drive, memory and a real live keyboard, plus a few other things.

Have you seen this one?

Notion Ink Adam: Tech Specs

Battery life is supposed to be insane due to the unique QI pixel display. Nice specs.

Re: Which Android Tablet would you get?

Memory though - 1gb of ram. The thing is not going to perform well with most heavy duty OS. Put a heavy spreadsheet on that thing and watch it slow bad, or edit a picture.

Re: Which Android Tablet would you get?

The Notion Ink Adam runs Android 2.2 currently though they have modified it to be more Tablet friendly. They call this Eden. It is expected to be upgraded to 2.3 and then 3.0.

The processor is a 1GHz Tegra2 dual core processor.

I think those are a must have for me to leave the laptop at home tethered to the tv.

Recently, I picked up a Viewsonic G-Tablet. Out of the box, it's meh, but it already has a great ROM community around it over at XDA, and it absolutely screams after getting rid of the stock firmware.

Check out this tablet...
Viewsonic ยป ViewPad 10 Tablet

Is this the dream tablet? Ok maybe not but kind of cool. I have been conflicted about which OS to get on the tablet. Surely somebody could hack some froyo on.

Considering the timing..the best tablet would be to wait on one with Honeycomb and a Tegra 2...

Re: Which Android Tablet would you get?

Since i have an Android phone, i think it would be redundant to get an Android tablet... That being said, it looks like HP/Palm are looking to make a huge splash in the tablet market. If i get a tablet, that would be what i'm gonna be going with.

I agree. I've always loved HP products and even with it's faults, WebOS IMO has the potential to be better than all of the current mobile OS's. Android included. Hopefully with HP behind them we will get a device that will show off it's untapped potential.

Re: Which Android Tablet would you get?

I too have doubts about anything related to palm, webos, etc. Just has never worked out. I did get to spend a few hours with an ipad this weekend and boy what a POS that is, haha. My android interface is light years above that. Hell the first internet page i tried to open could work cause flash wasnt working, lol.

I want windows 7 tablet (or linux if such a thing existed) for business use. I feel like EVO is just as good as an android tablet.

I think there are some Ubuntu tablets coming...and Android is technically linux based..

That said tablets and phones are kinda different...The EVO is no tablet replacement and a tablet is no Android phone replacement...while some things do overlap they have a lot of different uses...

Ya I know all of that. Guess my real issue is I want to do things I cant do on my EVO on my tablet, like taking hand written notes. Don't want to have to manage two android interfaces, lol - ubuntu tablet would be sweet i read a few articles about it just not alot of details. So I guess my answer to this thread is I would not get an android tablet.

Cant seem to get to 1000 posts :0
