the Samsung EPIC, maybe not so EPIC afterall ???

So im somewht interested in this phone and decided to look into it a bit.. went to http://developer.sprint.com/site/global/devices/sprint_devices.jspand gave the specs a look over.. i highlighted some things that arent so great.. like:
512 ROM/512RAM - seems like a waste of the 1ghz processor now..

TouchWhiz 2.5 UI - im sure we'd all like that one not to even be there lol

frames per sceond(fps) - this particular one doesnt say, just says HD for the main camera, but im sure like the EVO its an unattainable(from what ive read) 30 fps MAX as well

Android 2.1 - should be coming with 2.2 by the time it hits release, but its not going to..

so the EPIC is defintely NOT AN EVO WITH A KEYBOARD if that what some of you thought..i can admit, i kinda thought it was going to be lol... many similar qualities, but the EVO will still be better from a technical standpoint

Re: the Samsung EPIC, maybe not so EPIC afterall ???

There are a few mistakes in that developer article

Samsung TouchWiz 2.5 UI Framework

It actually has TouchWiz 3.0..which is actually decent in comaprisons to previous versions..but you can load up Launcher Pro on top of it.

1GHz Samsung application processor

This processor makes the snapdragon look like a 528mhz in our TP2s...

Bluetooth: Bluetooth 2.1

Its bluetooth 3.0 actually...

Operating System: Android 2.1 Eclair

These 2 are correct buy Froyo will come to this device even before the EVO most likely...

ROM: 512 MB

It is 1GB actually..but 16GB would have been nice..it comes with a free 16GB sd card though

Video: HD video

For recording it has the best video record Ive seen for a phone..and for playback it does hardware video decode of the video..including playing back divx and xvid and mkv containers natively

Trust me, its as EPIC as it gets ;)

Re: the Samsung EPIC, maybe not so EPIC afterall ???

well I'm not going to get it because it doesn't have an infrared port :(

Technology in these phones lately are ridiculous, so much that what's the best phone today is behind the curve by the time its released. I figure by the time I am eligible for my upgrade there will be a phone with a dual core processor and Bluetooth 4.0, something ridiculous.

I remember just a few months ago Eclair was announced and now there's already talk about Gingerbread... by the time Gingerbread comes out it'll be announced that Honey Bun is in the works...

Still a nice phone though

Honeycomb is my guess.
