Marketplace APPS Missing....Google being sneaky???

Just a hunch but could Google be adding anti rooting software into some of these well know Apps that don't seem to be available for 2.1 users. I'm sure they kno most will ignore OTA updates in order to stop them from locking don't root access on newer handsets. Why not place their software in a popular app like Handcent sms? Just wondering :dontknow:

Woooow, you're one of those paranoid conspiracy theory types, aren't you?

For the rest of us, there: http://bbs.handcent.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1854

FYI, it's happening with a lot of well known apps.

Dude really? I doubt that. Android is open source, google is for the techy!

Your kidding right? Google is well known and watched in many different areas in regards to privacy and shady ways of acquiring it. It seems odd due to the fact that most of these apps are available on other versions of googles os without issue....always expect the unexpected

And if Google was so open source we wouldn't have to root our devices to begin with.

IMHO units aren't rooted by default, because similarly to as if everyone that didn't know what they are doing had admin access to their PC, they would most def. end up screwing up their PC, as they would end up screwing up their phone and calling foul on their provider/phone manufacturer.. Making it costly o their side for support to get you back on your way and frustrating for most usual consumers..

EDIT: Also consider devs update, remove their own apps and sometimes an app is found to cause problems or actually be incompatible with your particular phone, so it doesn't show on your unit's market place.

My theory has just been that some of the apps arnt properly functioning with the Evo and are being revamped. Everytime something new comes out bugs need to be worked out. Just figured this was the case. I doubt google would want this device un-rootable. Maybe Sprint would and thats causing issues. But even as shady as google is right now isnt the time to turn the tide on rootable devices. If that time comes you are garenteed its because google has dominated its competition and can now do whatever the F it wants. Google loves to make money and we will undoubtedly suffer in some way. How far off that is is hard to tell so dont get your panties bunched up yet.
