Initial shock

With the release of so many android phones, and the (unofficial) death of windows mobile upon us, there are going to be a lot of people experiencing android for the first time right about now, and over the next year.

This isn't an android vs WM thread.

This is a thread for all the long time android users to tell us what to expect experiencing android for the first time.

We can research apps, we can research OS capabilitys. Whats not really researchable is initial reaction from using it.

What's it like the first week? What do you notice most? Do you miss anything? Basically, what's it like?

Im not a long time user but ill add some insight...

The only initial shock is that everything works right out the box... No cabs, no file transfers to a memory card and no rom flashing...Twenty minutes with it and I had it customized and widgeted with all my contacts merged with facebook....

Hi! Can I chime in here? I just got a Samsung Moment to tide me over till the EVO comes out. This is my 1st Android phone. I've been with WinMo for the last 3 phones I've had. I've never used any other smartphones. My experience has been (all the 2 weeks of it) is that I have very little to complain about. I can do all the stuff and more than I did with my Touch Pro. The battery lasts longer. The screen is bigger. Has a ton of apps to please every craving and useability. I am really happy to have switched. Not that I really had a choice....Anyway, I have found 1, just 1 thing not as good as WinMo. I am truly hoping for improvement cause it might be a deal breaker for many. This 1 thing is.....(drumroll)....email app sucks! It is lacking in so many area's I don't know where to start? Google mail works great. But like me I know a lot of people need better pop3 support. I am hoping the HTC mail app with the EVO is a bit better. Man, if email gets better Android will a perfect device in my book!!!
