How Many SMS does android allow?
 

I have a HTC TP2, had a regular TP and mogul, all running wimmo 5,6.0-6.5
My biggest problem is that I send SMS a lot. like 1000+ a month.
when I have 1000 SMS on my phone, it becomes almost unusable.
when I have 2000 SMS the phone is mostly dead.
when I loaded 24K from myphone, the phone never recovered.

So how many SMS can you have in android and how does it affect the phone performance?

Mine started taking awhile to load the text message conversation when I reached 2000 text messages. I'm using the HTC Hero but I think with the Evo it shouldn't have a problem loading 2000 text messages.

I really want then to make an EVO with a full kb. That's hen I'll make the jump.

I've got over 4k text on my hero and it's just a little slower when loading but I have reached the limit to where there no storage space on my phone. Hope that helps. Evo here I come.

I have about 2500 on my Hero in Handcent (free third party SMS/MMS app) and have no issues.

I used a 3rd party app for threading on the mogul when it was winmo 5. now I have 2 years of txts locked in some palm db file that I can convert them out of: PalmMsgV001

but they don't have away of getting the dates.

I have about 2000+ on my TP2. The real pain is when you clear them, the phone is busy clearing them for about 8 hours.

Whenever someone texts me, I just. call them and tell them that I'm not a 12 year old girl, just call me or email me. Seems to have solved the problem

Wow... Im over 35 and texting saves me from having to talk to people...Even my wife, mom, and the Colonel text me... Saves soooo much time...

I HATE talking on the phone. Texts save me from that. I'm far to busy to be distracted on the phone. A quick text or two is perfect for me.

Btw I'm a 25 y/o accountant, FWIW, not a 12 y/o girl.

isnt a text message essentially an abbreviated email for the most part? there really is little differnece between the 2. i have abou 1000 in handcent and my incredible does fine with it.

WTF do you keep 24k texts for???? Whats the point?? I just said the same thing in another post but why exactly do people save all these texts? If someone texts me I read it and delete it after I respond.

+1 24k is overkill. Are you really going to parse through 24k text messages at any point in the future? If the texts are that important then you should be emailing as opposed to texting.

I'd also like to know how the EVO handles lots of texts, last month I used over 22000. I delete most of them but still had over 4k at one point.

when someone calls me, I say "What?... text me" and hang up

There ARE reasons to keep a lot of txt messages, such as proof in a court case. But most people have no need for this.
