Also don't forget you have to notify the other person you are recording the convo by law.

Only a handful of states require you to notify the other person.

Android has a linux kernel, true. But it also has a java virtual machine running on top of that, and all the apps are written for that. You can't just run a linux app on Android.

Not true... where I live, its 100% legal to record any phone call as long as 1 party knows about it (me :) )

Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas
Colorado
District Of Columbia
Georgia
Hawaii
Idaho
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas
KentuckyLouisiana
Maine
Minnesota
Mississippi
Missouri
Nebraska

New Mexico
New York
North Carolina
North Dakota
OklahomaOregon
Ohio
Rhode Island
South Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Vermont
Virginia
West Virginia
Wisconsin
Wyoming

Re: Worrisome things about Android discussion

DataViz claims to be able to edit Excel and Doc files, a major concern for me. The move for me also means I will no longer have access to HanDBase and that will force me to carry a 2nd PDA (maybe keeping the TP2 for that purpose). Syncing contacts though is my scare. When I attempted to change my sync server settings to Google, the user name and password could not be changed.

Okay, here is another question. I often get password-protected Office Files (mostly Excel, even from my own computer), and can't open them on my TP2's native Office program, but I can open them with SoftMaker Office (which also has all the desktop features, which MS Office Mobile doesn't). SoftMaker says they don't have the manpower at present to port over to Android. Is there a MS Office on Android, and/or are there better alternatives to MS Office Mobile that offer more features (like handling password-protected files)?

The recording laws are convulted. There are different laws by state, and then a Federal one that cover conversations accross state lines. Well your thing said kommifornia so I figure that was california which does require a 2 consent thing..just wanted to point it out just in case

Yes you can open the password protected files..but I want you to note. Most free versions only allow viewing and not editing and you gotta buy the apps for editing. I do not know if the free apps allow the feature of opening password protected files or not..but since you have a TP2 and it has an android port you can test it to be sure.
