ALBUMS - lock down to certain folders?

Anyone know a way to have the ALBUMS app only show selected folders, instead of searching the entire SD card?

Each time I go to Albums, it has a TON of items from temporary folders from my email app (Touchdown). This is highly annoying.

I'd love to have it only show my 2 pictures folders.

Try putting a "." infront of the the folder name. IE> Wallpapers>.Wallpapers

make a blank text file named. .nomedia.txt (I think txt is the right extension) copy this file to any directories you don't want Gallery or the music player to view by default. You can atill browse to a file w/ a file manager to open any files in these directories - and no more bs showing by default.

Yeah, im not sure about this one. I tried this, granted it worked but i went back later to view my pics and guess what, they had disappeared. I dont trust it.

And it isnt a .txt extension. You need to create it on a computer in a text document but instead of saving as .txt save as "all files". Then move to the folder of your choice on your SD card.

Not sure this would work anyhow, as TOUCHDOWN creates folders for cached email automatically.

Any other decent image browser programs out there?
(I'd LOVE to find something like Resco Photo Viewer... I wish they ported that to Android).

DO NOT TRY THIS !!!!!

I just tested and it deleted all my image files in that folder as well.
I'm still going to use this method for some folders as I don't want my cached images saved.
However this blew out all the "private" images in a folder I was trying to keep hidden for when my kid or strangers play with my phone.

UHG.

No extension is correct- .nomedia
But this does not delete anything, use Astro or your favorite file explorer to browse to the folder and open from there. I have been using this method for a couple weeks with perfect results so far.

We arent just making it up. I did the .nomedia file and all my pics were deleted. I even accessed my card on my pc and have show hidden files. Nothing was in the folder anymore. I also had someone else confirm this for me over at XDA.

See this confuses me.... some people here say it's safe, some say it deletes files.
I KNOW for a fact that it deleted files from my card (after opening Album which searches the SD card).

I hope that I'm not going crazy... because it's not a noobie mistake as I'm a long-time techie.
(I even tried professional software to recover those file... which RARELY [but sometimes] works on flash RAM).

Such a mystery!

Anyhow, I'll never try that method again as it did delete over 30 images from my "discrete" directory.
Oh the horror of losing porn. :)
