[Tutorial] - 23506 for SSK 3.0 Kitchen - 11/10/09 updated

1 Attachment(s)
Note: This is for advanced users. I have tested this on my VZW TP2 and verified that it works.

Start here and download Scrosler's SSK 3.0 kitchen
Special thanks to Scott for his development and all the work he puts into this community!

If anyone is interested in building a ROM based off the 23506 build...
Here is a tutorial to get it to work.
Download 23506 files thanks to DigitalAttic
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...8&postcount=86
Direct link: http://www.mediafire.com/?idytww2hwdw
Extract the RAR
Open SSK 3.0 kitchen Folder:
SSK 3.0 TP2 6.5.X\ROM\Rhodium - make a duplicate of folder 23037 but rename it to 23506. So now you have 3 folders w/ each build#.
SSK 3.0 TP2 6.5.X\ROM\Shared - Create a new folder named 23506. Copy the packages.txt file from the 23037 folder into this new 23506 folder you just made.
SSK 3.0 TP2 6.5.X\ROM\Shared\23506 - Copy MSXIPKernel and xip.bin from the RAR file you downloaded above to here.
SSK 3.0 TP2 6.5.X\SYS - Copy folder 23506 from the RAR above to here.

A couple more things now.
Download the COMMON folder thanks to DigitalAttic
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=114
Direct: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment...2&d=1257775748
SSK 3.0 TP2 6.5.X\OEM\Rhodium\COMMON - Extract and copy the contents of the downloaded COMMON.Rar here.
NOTE: To build a ROM based off the builds that Scott originally provided in his kitchen, I would strongly advise to remove these 3 folders prior to building. Alternatively if you know how to un-hide the section these are in you can just de-select them.

SSK 3.0 TP2 6.5.X\Tools\RomSaved - Download the attached ZIP and extract the contents here.
23506 Generic and Sprint preconfigured, with the below 3 files de-selected so you can build a ROM.

Disable the following items once you open the kitchen: If you use the attached .erv files you don't need to worry about de-selecting these. They already are.
GlobalSmartDialingSettings_1_10_0_1
GlobalSmartDialingGSM_2_17_0_0
GlobalSmartDialing_2_16_0_0

Thanks to Scrosler for the killer SSK 3.0 kitchen and DigitalAttic for the files.
Thanks Bob for dialing in these instructions.

This is of course experimental, and unsupported by Scott.

Enjoy!

Notes:
Provided by DonSim
the packages.txt is not needed to be mesed with. the kitchen creates this file during the building process. if you open it and look at it, you will see what it actually is. it is just a list of all packages in that folder, then it lists if they have been included in the rom or not during building. so the one you copied over gets over written with the next build anyways and was not needed. also, xip.bin does not need to be with MSXIPKernel. again, the kitchen makes the xip.bin during the building process. last thing, for the global smart dialing packages, just delete "AssistedDialing.dll" from SYS\*build number*\SHARED\COMMON\PhoneRedist. other than that, nice write up!

The links in the first post are not working except for the mediafire link. when you click on them, they are going to the shorthand representation of the link where the "..." are used in place of the actual link information.

Thanks for the heads up.
I have fixed the links for a 2nd time now.
They seem to work for a couple of days and then stop once again.
This only is happening when posting links back to the same domain.

I have the same tutorial posted over at SSKusers.net and have not had any any issues with links. It was a simple copy and paste of the tutorial and checked that all the links worked properly.

Cool, gtk.

I was doing the same with the 23088 package (I can upload that if someone needs it) but when I didn't find xip.bin I didn't go any further...

Guess I'll give it a shot.

Two issues and I'm not sue if 23088 fixes this: the phone dialer has the scroll bar for the 23506 build aka it's the wrong one. I've seen WM6.5.1 builds here that don't have this problem...so the question is which files do I substitute in 23506 to get the old HTC dialer canvas back?

Second, if I want to go forward with 23088, where do I get/how to create the .erv files like in the first post? (total n00b question, I'll probably google this).

TIA

Edit: For those wanting, here are the 23088 WM6.5.1 source files: http://sharebee.com/db2f0855

Thanks for the info. I am new to working within a kitchen compared to just building. I didn't know that, but sounds like the files just get copied over anyway. I will update the first post with your info and suggestions.
Thanks for the compliment:)

I have not seen this error yet. Do you get the error prior to adding the 23506 files? Make sure that you follow the directions correctly. Provide some more info to help you out.

Thanks for the input and fix.

Above you said "delete "AssistedDialing.dll" from SYS\*build number*\SHARED\COMMON\PhoneRedist"
What does this do? Is this only file that is a duplicate, from my first post?
Thanks!

for some reason the kitchen fails at over writting that file during the build process and cause the error and crashes the kitchen. so either removing the global dialing package or deleting that file solves the problem. i really do not know why that particular files causes and issue, maybe the fact that it is a module in the sys and a file in the package ?

Thanks for the clarification. I was able to enable the 3 packages that my tutorial says to disable, then just delete the file you talked about. Everything went smooth.
