Thats not actually a feature of windows mobile, its handled by a few 3rd party apps. One is Showcase 1.1 however it looks like despite working well most of the time showcase was causing the messaging client to lock and I was having to soft reset. You could give it a shot though and see your results. Check about 14 pages back in this thread for link to showcase 1.1

If the developer has time to get back to it the new wisbar will also support the feature but its in beta and the current beta is expired and wont run past oct31.

those are the 2 that I am aware of that map 6.5.1 's closing X. other apps like quick menu do the job but not well in that aspect because they are meant for previous versions ....

After using 21864 Standard for almost a week, I honestly can't find anything wrong with it (aside from the very very minor overlay glitch on the slider tab when you have an unread message). After installing the appropriate cabs to deal with the usual sprint mms, keyboard, battery % issues, as well as adding other personal customizations, my TP 2 runs like a dream. It's smooth and doesn't require constant hard resets. This is what the stock rom should have been.

I am running the 23504 ROM and I am having issues with the softkey's. I have tried the tweaks included in the ROM but it changes back to default and brings up an HTC Action Menu which is quite annoying. Has anyone figured this out I have tried searching the forum to no avail.

Battery when being used is pretty bad, but ok, when screen's off. Sometimes, the 6.5.1 lock & password screen doesn't come up and the ugly 6.1 password/lock screen comes up. Finally, when my Touchpal pops up, it's hard to close it. I would hit the keyboard icon and it'll pop up again. Kinda irritating

My battery life on this phone is still pretty bad whenever I use the device. When I'm not using it and the screen is off & locked the battery life is ok.

I don't have automatic weather or stock updates, and I have two email accounts that send/receive every 15 min.

I decided to try 6.5.1 on VZW over the weekend. Overall, it runs well. Battery life over 2 days not really a good test but seems on par with other roms I've tried. The soft keyboard (in portrait mode at least) pops up fine but I can't get it to minimize unles I touch the top/left portion of the softkey. Otherwise I get the keyboard option menu. It's like the softkey is not skinned correctly to show the options arrow. I haven't tried all the tweaks but I did try to program the softkeys without sucess. I assume the tweaks software is not compatable with 6.5.1. The button app in settings does not reflect the actual button that is programed (for example, the End(Hold) key really programs the favorite (star) key on my keyboard) I still haven't figured out what the send(hold) key is? As far as the 6.5.1 interface is concerned, I'm not sure I totally buy into it, but it's a nice change of pace. I'll probably keep it on for a while since I haven't found any real issues with using the phone. FYI, I haven't tried the MMS fixes but SMS works fine.

Not complaining, just reporting. I know this is a beta version.

Edit: Thought of something else. I don't seem to be able to run opera9.7. The link in the windows/start menu points to the same shortcut as Opera 9.5 (operal.exe). I found a 9.7OperaL.exe in windows but when I run it the help/about says 9.5. (could it be just using the same help file? But then, it really looks the same as 9.5)

Edit2: Also, activesync doesn't sync calendar. Couldn't get mms to work with fix cab (I couldn't get it to work on 6.5 either).

Edit3 (final): I can now get into opera 9.7 using the shortcut from the start menu folder. Not sure why I couldn't do this before!

Also, I only run with manilla

Yea, that black box didn't bother me either until about a day with the Nov. 9 release, haha.
I attached the fix, it's a cab file, so even newbies can install it. I found it searching through threads on xda. Just remember to soft reset after you install the cab.
