Here is the visual progression from receiving a text, to accessing text app from the home tab, to opening a text, and the last image is after I have scrolled down, the problem is that it hangs on the 2nd to last image and doesnt show the message

Doesnt happens to me,
how abt doing task 29> n then putting the ROM back, n before restoring the phone n its messages, u try checking..

is there any registry tweak or sumthing to map my keyboard.
i mean i wanted to change that email key on keyboard with windows START key. on sprint phone.

I see what you are saying and tried it myself but I can not duplicate the problem.

Are you doing anything with custom skins? Maybe the custom slider has something to do with it. In any event, I can see my whole text message at the bottom of my screen.

Try doing a hard reset and clear out any modifications that you may have done and see how the screen looks.

Then add one md back at a time until you can reproduce the problem.

there is all this talk about Task29 but dont really have an idea what it does. Is it like installing the stock rom and doing the "flash dance"?

I am loving the Aug 28 23127 ROM - after applying the Hypnotic battery settings I am getting great battery life, I am able to overclock, and the ROM has been very stable with no hang ups, resets, or other problems.

However, I do have ONE weird thing happening. My WiFI is randomly turning itself on every now and then. It happens most of the time when I am on the phone which I attribute to ActiveSync looking for a data connection. It happens at other times as well with no observable cause. The nearest cell phone tower must be quite a ways away as I only get one bar in my house - perhaps everything is linked to ActiveSync?

I am looking for help in understanding how to configure the phone to have it NOT try to connect to WiFI automatically. I have searched the forum but did not see any reference to this type of problem. I tried Google as well but this does not seem to be a common issue.

Thanks to everyone who has help keep the TP2 at the top if its game.

Forgot to say, it's always a good rule of thumb to try something or changes this big after a fresh install without all your messages already there. Sorry you didn't like it, but I think it just makes the whole text msging interface more uniformed.

Yes, it is in a way similar to what a flash dance would do for you. To prevent carrying over unwanted files over to the next rom.

Turn off hyperactive active sync... start, settings, personal, phone, >> (top right arrows hit 3 times), Time sync (tap), get settings(tap), uncheck box (time sync with mobile net...) DON"T worry an oldschool trick, ASync will still work fine, just save memory by not having that darn thing running all the time.. (also about 10 diff ways to get to that setting.. that may be the toughest but it's the old way, i remember..)

FYI, most likely believe it or not.... my ear ALWAYS turns off my phone!!!! ALWAYS!! I've got the auto black sleep screen via the light sensor on that dims it durning a call etc.. but the way I hold the phone & talk somehow always navigates to settings & turns on airplane mode...!!! (i pace as i talk, the phone comes off ear just slightly, allows enough light to turn on screen, some how navs to com mgr & shuts it off!!!??)

Ha! the first 10 times I thought I oughta play the lottery (which i never have or will).. what are the odds??? But now over 100 times... I just call them back :>)) Long story short... could be the same happening to you??
