[ROM][Experimental] Indie's Return - Manila 2.5 Sense UI ROM

First off the BIG Thanks, cause they are highly due.

Ervius for the Visual Kitchen and Calkulin for the setup.
Akeo for the Manila 2.5 port.
Sharkie405 for his post on the Juicy ROM page and encouragement.

This is in no way a stable, feasible, nor practical ROM. It was merely something I'd try out to see if possible. That and I was bored, and I'm hoping this will get the ball rolling and encourage other much more skilled cooks to encorporate M2.5 into their ROMs. In other words, this is basically to mess around with and not use day to day. I'm not sure how much support I can offer, because I really didn't do much other than cook this thing. I am in no way skilled to the point where I can take the issues in the ROM and fix them. Perhaps if another chef would like to assist me with teaching me more about the ROM process and perfecting this ROM as much as possible, the project will carry on. Although I don't see why they would do that over just brewing their own ROM. As of right now though, don't expect too much to become of this.

I'm not sure of the stability. I haven't played around with it too much, but my phone hasn't crashed after an hour...that's always good, right? At the least, it's something that will boot up and show us most of what it has to offer as far as UI goes.

Manila 2.5.19183726.1 (2.5.1920 is out, but not available to me at the time)
Windows 6.5.1
SYS: 23071
Pagepool: 16

This is essentially Calkulin's default kitchen setup with Manila 2.1 removed and Manila 2.5 installed.
DOWNLOAD ROM HERE!

The file mentioned here has been said to cure the contacts issue.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=1290068&postcount=10721

This is my first posted ROM, and I can't stress enough that it is in no way an attempt to make anything grand or exciting, but please, enjoy it for what it is. =)

THIS IS A HORRIBLE ROM! SERIOUSLY! Only get it if you want a very crippled glimpse of Manila 2.5.

To those interested, here is the build log and the .erv file for the kitchen.

Akeo's Manila 2.5 port thread can be found here. It can offer further insight on solutions to some of the issues as well as progress of the port.

I'll give it a go, thanks! Inda never updated his Manila 2.5 ROM so maybe we can get this one working to a degree...

Edit: This could be a while...

Hey, Indie
It's nice to see that someone is trying to keep 2.5 development alive. I would love to help with this if I could but I'm just not that programming savvy.
But, I'm sure whoever is willing to help develop it further would be a true "HERO" in the hearts and minds of all TP owners.

thanks for a rom to play with on my old TP, using a palm pre for last month and really like it (yea there r some problems, but for being so new it really works great) Im not sure if I can go back to the ****ty hardware on winmo or android, so many choices now, wow ms really cant stand around and do nothing for years like they have been doing for say 3-5 years.

Seriously guys, if it's a horrible rom maybe waiting for a more stable version is worth it

Don't know yet until we get some more people to load it. It's the only way we're going to improve it, unless a chef steps up and take this on or builds their own with Manila 2.5.xxxx in it.

Im not sure if its a good idea to call out the chefs. They all do an excellent job free of charge and most of them are working on both gsm and cmda of both tp1 and tp2. More like if a chef decided to focus on one rather then them all, that would be nice. Remember too, the TP is an aged device (though awesome) so Im thinking they are just looking ahead at devices that arent as resrictive. As long as no one gives up on development Im pleased.

I wasn't calling out the chefs, I was merely stating a fact on ways to move this forward. Personally I don't see anyone picking this up until a more stable version of Manila 2.5 is ready...

Update: Looks like NGRZ has already taken up the Manila 2.5 battle: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...ostcount=15152

I am pulling it down now!

Re: [ROM][Experimental] Indie's Return - Manila 2.5 Sense UI Rom

I have been using this rom since 5 minutes after it was posted last night and i am pleased to say it is working awesome with very few flaws at all. It looks damn sexy and has proven to be more stable then the topaz smoke rom and energy rom that i have been recently using. The two main glitches i have found is texting from manila with the on screen keyboard your typing area is hidden so you cant see what your typing but in landscape with the keyboard its fine. The other glitch is the finger menus for a few programs have some funny lines on the top and bottom of the menus. Other then these two minor issues i have no complaints with this rom and am going to keep this one for a while. 2.5 rocks :)

Re: [ROM][Experimental] Indie's Return - Manila 2.5 Sense UI Rom

how are people supposed to check out this rom and provide feedback when only 10 people can download from rapidshare.

Can someone mirror the file so that others may check it out? I would be happy to give it a spin (currently running the new NRG 2.5).

Re: [ROM][Experimental] Indie's Return - Manila 2.5 Sense UI Rom

Sorry about the rapidshare, I linked it to my account, but I guess it didn't go through. Uploading it again right now, new link will be up shortly. I'm also going to be playing around with it some more and trying to slim it down. My attempts last night only resulted in a non-bootable ROM, but I'm going to start from square one.

This file has been reported to fix the contacts issue for some.

New download link is up. Should work fine now. I'm also working on a new cleaner build that will be based off of Windows 6.1 SYS 21869

Edit: Just grabbed Manila 2.5.1920 so I will definitely make the upgrade to that as well with this new build.

How do you do a clear storage can't seem to find it.

Re: [ROM][Experimental] Indie's Return - Manila 2.5 Sense UI ROM

Honestly, it may not even be in the current ROM. Right now I'm trying to get Manila 2.5.1920 to run, but with no feasible luck yet. I'm playing inside SSK's Kitchen to see if anything better comes from it.

Re: [ROM][Experimental] Indie's Return - Manila 2.5 Sense UI ROM

To be honest it's not half bad. I'm gonna play with it today and see how it goes. I'm like everyone else we really want to use 2.5 on this device so it's fun to try.
