Cool, thanks, I've already downloaded it, I was just holding back on flashing, but since you've done it, I feel confident to do it now.

That usually solves a lot of problems for people, to flash back to stock and then go to a custom rom. It's called doing a "flash dance".

If that doesn't work, you can also look into "task 29". It's really not as intimidating as people make it out to be, just download the splash screen version for the Herman (sorry I don't have a link handy). What you're describing sounds like a classic bad flash.

Btw, if anyone is using the Facebook tab and wants more battery life, disable the auto update. I'm getting much better battery life with the Aug 12 rom than I was with the July roms, but I just noticed it's updating 70+ contacts on my phone every two hours. That may explain why I get about a day on the battery

A couple of additional thoughts. Flash to stock HTC Sprint rom, and then do a "clear storage", yea I know, you have to do the screen calibration twice, but it seems to work for me. Then test for the condition you saw before, but now using the stock rom. Also check for a bad sd card, it could cause you problems. Don't load a lot of programs either, test each one thoroughly, you may have one bad apple in the mix. Even bad batteries can cause problems. More than likely it's not Energy roms causing the problem, so make your troubleshooting a little easier...

Did just that (flashed to stock, cleared storage, and didn't load any programs aside from Microsoft My Phone and synced), will see for a few days if it stays stable, then I'll know if there is any hardware problem.
I have a spare battery, so I can try that if it doesn't become stable, and a spare SD card too.
Hopefully I'll be back to an Energy ROM in a few days.

+1 for Task29. It was developed specifically to avoid the hassles of "flash dancing", and almost assuredly would have solved your problem.

So far so good with going back to stock ROM (it survived a full night, which it never did previously when I had problems with it), and I'll be back to an Energy ROM soon again once I feel I can conclude I don't have an hardware issue.
Once I'm back to Energy, and if I'd have problems again, I'll definitely look into Task29.

Are there any indications that some Energy ROMs are less prone to problems/long-term stability issues than others? (aside from 21911 vs 23128 )

Has there been any word concerning Twitter's oAuth interface for the Twitter Tab? I use PocketTwit as my fallback, but that one too hasn't updated to the new protocol. So for now I'm tweetless on the go... for shame.

Another one down. I got my Epic yesterday. Will probably flash my Touch Pro back to stock and SPL lock it as a backup.
