Need Help Finding The Correct Rom For My PRO
 
Hello to everyone,
am new in here and i like this forum its quit nice . also am new to the whole thing about flashing Rom and updating the phone and please i need your help please.
i have a touch pro its from Softbank Carrier (JAPAN) its call X05HT model and i need to change the os from Japanese to English .
so i assume that the phone or what they using is cdma type (UMTS 3G 2100) and to be sure how i could find out ???
second is do i have to sim unlock or no need before i start?
and what files do i need and what the best Rom to suite my phone.
i can not choose cause am a beginner and i dont know what is ok and what is not.
finally if you can explain to me what is disadvantage of upgrading to a different rom (example am not gonna be able to use messages or internet ...etc...)
i know i asked too much but really i appreciate it .

You say it has a SIM??? If so, you might have a GSM, which you will want to switch over to the GSM Touch Pro Forum. I would recommend a WM6.5 Build 21232 rom since you might have a GSM. Hope that helps.

I really don't know how to tell honestly. Actually wait hold the top power button, volume down button and then use the stylist to hit the soft reset button. Keep holding power and volume down buttons until it goes into Bootloader mode. If it says RAPH800 you have a CDMA and if it says RAPH100 you have a GSM.

the wiki on softbank says they use w-cdma(umts), so you're better off checking the GSM forums.

Again thanks for your replay,actually i called Softbank today and ask them what my phone use GSM or W-CDMA and they confirmed that its W-CDMA so am still on the right forum or W-CDMA is same as gsm (way of flashing the rom)

W-CDMA is GSM. There is a gsm upgrades forum here too though. So check that one.
