Re: [ROM][WWE][05.04.09]WM 6.5 21502 ROM / Kitchen for TouchPro [Multi-ROM Builds] [C

It looks like the "Ringtone is currupt" error is still around. It's not nearly as bad as it was, but it still occurs. I have narrowed it down to when this happens, the Text Messaging notification sound stops playing, as well as all other notifications that use WMA tones. If I go into Rings & Notifs and select say "Messaging: New Text Message" and start selecting the different tones avail and hit "play", only the WAV's will play. The WMA's will just be silent. Then I tap the good old "OK" and it gives the "Ringtone is Corrupt" message. So it has to be something with WMA processing. The Really ODD part is the WMA Ringtone plays all the time, just fine, regardless. It is making me want to pull my hair out.

I have discussed this in detail with Da_G and we have tried yet another fix. I will let you know the results as soon as I know them. (I have to wait for the error to come around, if its going to.) In this case, no news is good news. :D

Thanks for hanging in there with me! Hope you all are enjoying the ROM!

Update (21:41 CDT 5/4/2009):
So far so good. Notifications are still firing and no errors leaving Sounds & Notifications..... More to come.
Update (00:38 CDT 5/5/2009): Still going strong. Sent over 50 text messages in past 3 hours as well as made and received several phone calls. Notifications still going strong (texts coming in like crazy) and I can go play around in Sounds & Notifications without issue... I'll post more in the morning.
Update (19:35 CDT 5/5/2009): Ok. It finally returned. I have tried everything to fix it in this build. I am tired of having to wait so long for the error to arrive. I have decided to abandon 21502 for now and move on to 21222. I have heard this fixes this error. If it does, then the MediaOS folder will be to blame and I will be able to patch the 21502 to match. Let's hope!!

i just flashed ur sprint rom. things are ok but it seems to be heating up my touch up quite quickly.

i did find several bugs. my contacts list scrollbar is pushed slightly off to the right. also, scrolling down causes several graphics glitches with text overlapping.

my email provisioning went fine as well as importing my pim and email. however, upon trying to actually open an email no luck. it simply doesnt update the gui to show the email. it does mark the email as read however. i think there is something wrong with the drivers.

pressing certain keys on the hardware board brings up the incorrect character and or shortcut. one key takes me to home. txt key takes me to calendar...

good work

Normal for first flash. A lot is going on right off the bat. Flash, initial provisioning of all OS and filesystems, setting up all your stuff, then a hard reset (because its required on all rom flashing), and second setup of everything, then finally, I usually soft reset for good measure. All this makes the phones processor go loko. I would heat up too.

Known issue with WinMo 6.5. ALL 6.5 builds (and I mean EVERY ONE OF THEM) is like this. It's call the "4th down error" in my book. It starts highlighting everything starting with the 4th one down. This is also linked to the scrollbar being somewhat visible. No one has found a fix for this yet. HINT: Press contacts (lower left) to get to your contacts instead of scrolling down.

Dude, I will refrain from commenting on the "drivers" thing. This is not a drivers issue. Are you talking about while inside of outlook, from titanium Email plugin, from Manila email tab? Where are you trying to "open" the email? I have a very large exchange email box where I get an email about once every 15 to 20 mins. I have never had an issue opening one.

good work

I need specific key press combo's and their results. I can't test the issue if I don't know how to reproduce it.

Thanks for all the feedback though! I appreciate it and will continue searching for the pesky fixes.

Working great for me so far. I might be 4hrs. in but haven't experienced any issues at all. Really pleased with this roms features like the album, menu pop-ups, and the speed of this rom so far. Great work!

I did a rom in your kitchen today and so far it is sweet. This is definitely the kitchen to cook a 6.5 for daily drivving. Man I have more memory, the battery life seems excellent. Love it! When do you think we will be able to do a 21502 rom in this kitchen? Also how can I add my own splashscreen change the id on the rom so it reads sometthing more personal to the cook instead of just like 1.03 ?Great job!!

It is 21502 in the kitchen. It says "5.2.21501 (Build 21502 dB)" on the about screen because of the 21501 XIP being used. I am going to fix the 21502 XIP tonight and upload it as an "Addon" package for the kitchen. You'll just extract it to the directories relative to root and you'll be able to cook in a true 21502 XIP giving you the 5.2.21502 number. However, this will change the functionality in absolutely no way.

As far as the ID?? You talking about the RUU Flash ID? The Build ID on the About screen (See above)? Depends on what you want as to where to change it.

As far as splashscreens, that is not available in ErviusKitchen. If we want to put splashscreens in, we will have to do them seperately or wait for Ervius to support it in xip payload. I will look into a little more and see if we can pull it off via a seperate batch job before final NBH build. I'll let you know.

My 21501 build didn't have this problem. I will confirm this tomorrow by flashing back temporarily.

Pertaining to the email issue, I think I have it figured out as to what is causing it. All of the email that I imported back in using PIM behaves in the manner I described. Any new mail behaves properly. I'm gonna have to try a couple of things to see what's causing this.

'1' - start
'2' - @
'3' - !
'4' - (
'5' - )

the list goes on...

I have seen this behavior before when a SIP gets installed while SIPGT is still running. This is probably what happened here. Anyone know how to get around this after the hard reset.

While in a call the menu button brings up a RECORD and a START RECORDING option. I see that START RECORDING is linked to in call recorder and that RECORD just writes files that you can access via WMP. Is this supposed to be like this? I've never used ICR so I was just wondering.

SprintTV gives the 7004 error.

Google Maps should be on your programs list since it installed during initial hard reset.

Thanks again!

I would be interested to know this for fact. What ROM is it and what PhoneCanvas/Skin are you using?

That would explain why I never have that problem.

All my keys work properly. Are you installing your own SIP?

Yes and yes. I have both the built in call recording turned on AND ICR. I am testing them both to decide which is better. BOTH create files that are playable in WMP. One is stored in <My Documents\Recording> the other in <My Documents\Notes>.

Odd, this worked in 21501. Sigh. Yet another thing 21502 decided to break. I'll get on this soon. I wonder if calk's fix would work for this one.. hmm.. Oh well, a proper fix would be better. I'll get it tomorrow.
