I haven't run with it at 6 yet (gonna try it soon just out of curiousity), but I find with a 12 MB PP, it blazes along just find, and I have yet to have an 'out of memory error'.

Even running Opera for a while and album and some other minor programs, I rarely pop over 90% usage.

I left them for this reason. They did the same **** with the diamond. I hope they burn in hell for what they do.... Im not joking. This is an emotional topic for me.

I just left VZW for this andf got a sprint diamond. As soon as I saw VZW was crippling yet anotyher phone I said I can tsupport them any more.

They ONLY WAY THEY WILL STOP DOING THIS is if you stop being there customer.

Dont complain, make a move. Kiss them goodby. SO mach happier with Sprint now.

But I kept my phone and keep the ROM"s and kitchen currnet ;c)

I can't go into much detail, because it will be a conflict of interest for me, and I like having my rent paid on time...LOL....

VZW's policies for phones vs. PDA's are very different. I can honestly say that with some phones they are really limiting the potential. Not so with the touch pro. The touch pro was designed to be the "everything" of phones. If you look at the VZW lineup, typically the monster phone is the HTC XV series.

What happened last year, was the herald of the blackberry storm. Verizon chose the HTC Touch Pro first. It was one of the earlier builds that HTC brought to VZW. After that, when they went to Alltel, AT&T, and Sprint the design started to change. That is why the verizon version looks so different and has different specifications. And there was no way they could have gotten the Touch Pro ready in time to offer with the slew of PDA's in december if they changed the midway through.

But there is a rumor brewing that we will get the Rhodium first in October. Possibly with a 3 month or 6 month exclusivity. but I was told that I will definitely be surprised if we get it, with the specifications that will be on it. (For example aGPS unlocked right out of box, to name a few).

You can...

1. Reflash his ROM with the page pool lowered this freeing your mmemory.

2. Flash my TP ROM's as I am the ONLY developer working on VZW solutions. I build ALL my ROM's on verizon Touch Pro.

Anyways... good luck.

I have been using my Sprint Touch Pro with Sprint service for 2 weeks now and I am 110% satisfied (VZW Employee). Nothing can be done to save that overpriced piece of trash that VZW calls a Touch Pro. I used it for 4 months and I had to face reality - It is a SUBPAR product that does not deserve to wear the HTC Branding (Hey wait it doesnt...lol).

Its kinda interesting. I have some friends in the corporate testing lab in NJ, and coupled with my friends at HTC it makes very interesting discussion.

Apparently the branding is supposed to change. I think this year we are going to see more handsets from other carriers activated for service with different carriers. But going forward I think all the new devices are supposed to have both HTC branding and VZW. I think it starts with the Rhodium (if we get it).

Man, how do you get friends like that? lol

My conflict is that I like the Verizon service in my area (and the areas I frequent), but I hate what they do to phones.

Alas, I cannot afford to import a Sprint TP...lame.

What I do to free some memory is I delete all the ringtones that are 118 KB or anything else in the 3 figures. I really don't use the ringtones that comes with the pro and I have my own custom ones. This trick does enough for me.

Verizon has been crippling phones for years...i hacked my Razr and it was like a new phone...they do it because it brings in more money....making you pay for ringtones instead of being able to use your own. not providing standard apps as they know that they can make money if you have to pay for it in their store. Verizon is and always has been about the money. their CS sucks beyond belief

I switched to Sprint after being with Vzw for nearly 8 years...bill was always paid on time and everything, and they still sent an 800 dollar termination bill...just by switching to Sprint, i saved 200 dollars a month...Verizon does have the best coverage, but its not worth paying twice the price....i can handle 1-2 dropped calls a month, what i cant handle is paying 49 bucks a month for "unlimited" internet, that has a cap....ill switch to sprint and get unlimited everything for only 20 bucks a month more.....

ending my rant....to free up memory, do as a lot of people have said, get a good VZW rom, make sure the PagePool is correct 6-8, and make sure you dont have any unneeded programs on the phone and it will be workin as smooth as drinking a gallon of castor oil....

Re: freeing more memory.

Each carrier has their own pros and cons. I myself used to work for sprint, and now I work for Verizon. And believe me, all carriers are about the bottom line.

Because most of are very technical, it is easy for us to assume that every customer is on our level. You would be surprised at how much our "consumer base" is even capable of building kitchens, and flashing phones. Think about how long manufacturers have been posting updates to phones on their individual websites. For PDA's they have been doing it for the last 7 - 9 years. Think about how long Manufacturers have been putting usb cables in phone boxes, and begging/pleading with customers, even carriers to provide information on how to synchronize and perform standard upgrades. I tell you over 95% of people with a cell phone do not know how to upgrade their phones or even synchronize their own information.

We represent about 5% of consumer wireless base.

So I am not gonna say Sprint or Verizon is better. I ahve my opinion on that, but I tell you it isn't gonna get any better until that number changes.
