Customizing WM 6.5..
 

I thought with all the new kitchen's and rom dropping with WM6.5 we could start a thread about customizing the today page to our liking. Things like remapping buttons and changing default programs that launch. Anyone interested.

I'll start. I have edited some of the shortcuts so when they are cooked into a rom or dropped into the windows folder in a cooked rom it will change the default contacts to iContacts and the Calendar to Pocket Informant.

I would just like to contribute something to the mix....

Just drop them in to the baseapps folder and cook.
The addrbook.lnk assumes you have cooked iContacts into your rom (it looks in the windows folder for the .exe). The Calendar assumes you installed Pocket Informant via .cab.

You will still need to remap the softkeys to your liking...

Is there any easy way to do what you did with icontacts and pocket informant to allow the media player be changed? I personally use coreplayer, and I know there are tons of other options. I have no clue how to change that.

Load up your rom. Then use shortcut manager and modify the shortcut and redirect it to what you want. Then copy the shortcut to your card. You can just overite it the next time. Also if say media player hhas a shortcut in the sys folder of the kitchen then you can overwrite the shortcut in the kitchen and it will be cooked in. Thaks what I did as I have VERY little programming skills. Hope that helps. I also had edited the registry so look at the following and see if there is anything you can do here...

As I said I have little to no programming skills so I tried the simple route. I thought I would locate all the shortcuts inside the kitchen and then edit and remap them there so I can cook it right in. Most are located in the baseapps folder. Like I said this is probaably not the right way but it's the only way I got them to work. I have been able to remap some of the panels but cannot get it to work again I will look into it though...

i cant believe everything is in the start menu
how to make groups and re-arrange the order of which programs appear?

go to ...\windows\start menu\programs
here you can remove/add programs shortcuts, also make folders and add the shortcuts in the folder ex......\start menu\programs\new folder (new folder being whatever you name it)

also holding the icon down while in the start menu, a box should open thats lets you move it up/down

why man thanks a bunch never knew that,cuz all the new program i used had to scroll all the way to the bottom, good lookin

What about folders in Settings?

Is it possible to add folders and shortcuts to the Settings icon from the start menu? I've added a shortcut to ...\windows\start menu\settings but it doesn't show up.
