What the heck...it hard reset itself!

Hello-

I'm posting this because I vaguely recall a similar post being made, but can't find it and I wanted to know if anyone found the culprit.

I've been using eRice's ROM since November (about 5 months) and switched to MightyRom two days ago. This morning I woke up to half a PPC. 90% of all the files on the device are simply gone, ActiveSync settings are gone, S2U2 starts but has no files, the same thing with the handful of programs I installed - Pocketwit, Facebook, etc. A hard reset would have left things clean, whereas I still have links in the programs menu and little remnants.

What the frak happened? It's like something simply deleted all the files in memory.

Thanks for any information.

Do you have any backup programs on your phone? Did you run a restore from a previous rom?

That is weird. The exact same thing happened to me a while ago too. I got my phone and mostly all my programs where gone. The icons just showed the little window flags and when you pressed them it would say that the programs wasn't found.
Funny thing, is that come to think about it I was running Mighty's rom also!

It was a clean/fresh install, only my texts restored with PPCPIM.

Glad to hear it was with MightyRom - it makes me feel a bit better since I know it wasn't hardware related.

Don't get me wrong, I know there are "risks" with custom ROMs, but having your device randomly have near total amnesia is more than a bug, to me at least. No hard feelings though, Mighty made an awesome and fast ROM, and I know other people are having great results with it.

If anyone ever figures out exactly why it happens, I'd give MightyROM another go someday.

Quite odd.... Maybe coincidence, who knows.

Like i tell all my users, usually when u flash the best thing to do is use clear storage method to hard reset once more rather than the button pattern method.

If u did do that, then i'm stumped. If you didn't do that, then thats my recommendation for next time, or for any rom for that matter.

I had this problem with any rom that used 20765. As soon as i just cooked my own using ssk's kitchen my issue went away, then when juicy came out with a new rom that wasn't 20765, i switched to that and havn't had a problem. but i tried both juicy, and mighty's 765 rom, and had the same issue on both.

I have hear of all sorts of crazy **** with this phone! This just tops the cake but not all that surprising. This phone reminds me of the HTC Apache. Way too much. If you didint hard reset appache after flashing you were in for very similiar issues.

I also agree with mike about ways to hard reset and that hard reset is the smartest thing you can do after first flash.

I'm a bit confused on the hard resetting stuff.

When I flash, I usually don't hard reset at all. Are you saying to hard reset before I flash, or after?

After a new flash, hard reset again.
