I'm looking at MightyRom and Merdin's Rom. If I download one of the kitchens in the stickies (there are two, what's the difference?) will I be able to load up these two roms in the kitchen and then cook up a custom rom with features that I select? So do kitchens get ROMs as inputs, and then output a fully customized ROM based off of the core of the input ROM? |

hmmm You've got some more learning to do... There are different kitchens all over, but for the most part it uses BuildOS + some add(s) on to make your ROM. Your ROM consists of Your OEM Programs, in the OEM folder, Your SYS Files, in the SYS folder, Your XIP, in the ROM Folder, Your BUILT ROM when you are done, in the RUU Folder. OEM Programs can be anything, most kitchens will have OEM programs loaded in there, AND you can make more with your set of CAB files... SYS Files and XIP has direct impact on how fast/well your ROM will behave, SYS Files have versions attached to them, and while HIGHER DOES NOT MEAN BETTER, some specific SYS versions are superior to others... 21015 21028 21018 are a few that really work well/fast. You CAN... Mix and Match SYS and XIP but... if you get further apart in revisions, you increase the change of cooking a bad ROM.. Usually it won't boot... in which case you'll have to cook another one and flash your phone using your SD Card in bootloader mode... (Also documented in stickies) a LOT of SYS folders are mix and matched... not really a good thing... its best if all the SYS versions match up IMO. anyway, happy cooking. |
