newbie flash questions
Hi all,
i've been reading the forums and ready to jump into the custom ROMs for my Touch Pro VZW. I have my phone unlocked. 1) Before I start I would like to make a backup of the factory ROM in case I need to go back to it. How do I do this? 2) do i need to copy any info from my phone to put into the new ROM to activate it on the VZW network? any network settings or such? Thanks Z |

Only thing you MIGHT have to back up is yer contact information... if you have Exchange Server with yer contacts, you can just flash... |
Re: newbie flash questions
I dont use exchange server myself but I have all my contacts notes/memos ect backed up in Outlook so after flashing you can just resync this information.
I also made sure that I downloaded the Stock Verizon ROM and relocker BEFORE unlocking/flashing my TP for the first time. Just being cautious....... |
Re: newbie flash questions
please post what you think of the functionality of the phone after flashing compared to stock version. Thinking of upgrading from an xv6700, but all the bad reviews are throwing me off.

Re: newbie flash questions
decided to flash with SSK 1.5 flash went on OK. after it initalized I tried to use phone and it would shut down and vibe after 30 sec. had to hard reset it and then it worked good. much faster than stock. GPS unlock is great. having some issues with incoming calls which i posted about in SSK thread. overall it makes the phone much more useable for me.
P.S. lost contacts in flash. good thing I had a backup! |
Re: newbie flash questions
I am enjoying SSK's work as well. Next time you backup, I recommend PIMbackup. You can keep the program on your storage card and run it there because it is just an executable. Backup and Restore is as simple as selecting what you are working with and hitting the button and wait for the loading bar to say done.
