Windows 7 beta OS while cooking
I just thought I would let everyone know... in case some were affraid to try... that I have installed Windows 7 Beta x64 and have successfully burned every ROM I have opened. Right now, I am about to go back to the eRice kitchen... it seems to be running without problems.
Make sure you get through the initial Windows Mobile Device center screens before attempting to cook. No need to register, and no need to "setup" the device... just connect. |

+1 to Win7 x64!
I've been running Win7 x64 as my core OS since the public beta came out. No problems at all with anything ROM-related. WMDC isn't bad, much better than o'l activesync IMO. I'm glad microsoft got their act together, though. This is the vista that never was... |
Re: Windows 7 beta OS while cooking
Agreed. I was shocked. I would have been shocked if the 32 bit version would have worked... but for the 64 bit version to work... I am purely amazed. Nothing worked right for Vista 64bit. This beta is better that the vista RELEASE.

+1 for Win 7 x64! Mine has to install the drivers EVERYTIME the rom update utility puts it in bootloader mode tho, but it all works out fine afterwards.

Re: Windows 7 beta OS while cooking
Just wanted to report the same results for the 32 bit version.

Re: Windows 7 beta OS while cooking

Dammit, got me again. When I see one of the threads talking about Windows 7, I always get excited thinking that its for WM 7. LOL!

Re: Windows 7 beta OS while cooking
The compatibility mode for Win7 is astounding compared to previous versions of Windows. It goes one step further by actually telling programs that it is actually a previous version of windows instead of just running in a compatibility layer.
That's the one thing about Win7 that has impressed me the most by far. Well that and Microsoft's discovery of ACPI and actually having the audacity of tweaking polling intervals of various things and having a smarter screen brightness daemon for laptops. It roughly doubled my battery life on my XPS M1530. |
Re: Windows 7 beta OS while cooking
I have no clue what you are talking about Vista X64. You can flash and do everything on it.... Right now however I am running Win 7 X64.
