Performance Tuning The SYS Folder?
 
I'm learning how to build my own ROM from bottom up, Is there a guide which i can use to FINE Tune the SYS folder? Which folder and files i can remove without breaking something? Any help will be much appreciate it. Thanks

You don't fine tune the SYS folder, you can simply remove the unnecessary SYS folders and/or create an options.xml to remove them.

You can also combine the rgu files so that you can minimize the number of files in your IMGFS. FormerPalmOS talks about all this in this forum somewhere...

SYS must have a Matching XIP to run correctly, although you can get away with ones that are close enough it seems...

Follow Former's thread, it'll teach you a lot. or... it'll just confuse you more... :mrgreen:

Jucytec, thanks for the reply.... Do you know which files and folders i can remove? i have been reading palmer thread but he doesn't really talk about it.. ill search again... thanks

I'm not sure how mergin rgu's can have an affect because they are not independently part of the windows directory... they are merged during the cooking process which all are accumulated into one registry .... i did read his post but scratched my head because I know for a fact there is a process in the kitchen that merges them all together.... the amount of files in your windows directory i do agree with though because of indexing and such....

Which files and folder do chefs usually remove from the sys folder plus, i read cal put all his program in modules. Is there a guide laying around to accomplish that...?
