Advantages of flashing radios?

So I was looking through the radio thread and see there is 6 to choose from. There really isn't any information on what exactly the advantages are for flashing the radio and which one to pick or if I even need to. I haven't done any kind of radio flashing yet just because I don't know a whole lot about it or couldn't really find any information about it as far as what it is actually doing.

No one can say which radio is the best, only which radio works the best for them. In my case I run 1.11. It gives me the best signal strength for my area, battery drain isn't horrible and the original radio had a nasty echo. So, basically it's like trial and error. If you're getting good signal strength in your area and voice quality is ok then i wouldn't change it. Hope this helps.

Research "Placebo Effect" - mostly that's it. Plus, it makes you feel like you're improving the device in some way.

I'm running 1.11 and I updated my PRI as well. I'm sure it's made it better, somehow.
