Diamond flashed to cricket changing ROMS and internet teathering
 

OKAY I AM A TOTAL NOOB, when i got my diamond it already had a cricket ROM on it so that mms internet, GPS etc worked. So the phone came already flashed to cricket with my number and rom was installed. My question is how do i replace this ROM with this new Mighty ROM will I lose any data? Please tell me step by step if possibe. I am worried if I download a new ROM I will mess up the things I have working on my phone already. Also the ROM that came on my phone renders me unable to use internet teathering this maybe because I am trying to use my phone as a modem on a laptop running vista and 32 bit windows mobile center. Do I need to have that on my phone to work properly please help I am lost.

wow, you really need to do some reading and not just ask a question and expect people to tell you.

you will lose all your data, but the phone will still be on cricket. talk/text will work, mms/wap will not and you will have to manually configure them.

Please forgive my ignorance so what you are saying that if my phone is already flashed to cricket and unlocked it will stay that way I will just have to reconfigure the WAP and MMS. I was able to do that according to the registry edit instructions I found on earlier posts is that what you mean by reconfigure? Or will it be more complicated than that?

yes. you need to read read read.

your phone is already unlocked. your phone is flashed with a cricket rom. your EPST is already programmed.

if you install another rom you will not be able to do anything but use the phone, text, and use the applications on the phone. internet will not work unless you set it up manually.

also as for tethering you MUST configure your internet proxy on your browser or you can not browse the internet on your PC.

My bad I am on a time schedule to get this working. Honestly I didnt think you would get back to me. I appreciate that you did. I know how to manually configure WAP and MMS through the registry provided I have resco regisry. So what I am gathering here is if I download any of these many ROMs to my phone all I can do is talk on the phone messsaging internet, GPS etc is done manually?

i have been reading and have yet to find info on how to set up the proxy on the laptop so that it works with the internet sharing program. When i hook my phone to the laptop and launch the internet sharing it connects right away but the windows mobile center keeps connecting then disconnecting.

every rom will work. all your device functions will work. WAP and MMS are strictly carrier related issues. If you want WAP you have to manually program it in your internet connections. very simple. MMS requires arcsoft and registry edits. very simple.

gps, phone, everything else will work out of the box.

internet connection sharing is very simple. download a program called wmwifirouter and use it. dont bother with internet connection sharing. latest version of wmwifirouter is 1.25 i believe and works beautifully.

go to device information and find out what rom you have. i bet it is to0's rom. theres no need to flash any other rom, thats the rom all cricket users run and its excellent. also your device is unlocked if you're running anything other than a sprint rom.
