HTC touch pro ? Custom roms Not so custom?
 

anyone , ever notice.. the stock ROM always works never any problems.. Nothings ever wrong with it ?? i mean its flawless ?
but the Rom cookers on this site.. really try and make a great Effort in makeing OUR world a better place ,, with great apps and Roms " SO thank you , ROM cookers "

BUT....... i have one issue ..WHY IS IT every custom rom out there HAS A flaw or its not stable or its missing something or its a bug etc . I have yet to C a flawless working complete ROM... is it just me or... I just miss my old ALLTELL junk rom .. at least it worked ? heh

probably because the vast majority of the custom roms are built from Windows Mobile builds that were ported from other devices and were not created specifically for the Touch Pro.

dude no offense, but the post doesn't make much sense. If you know what you are looking for there are many problems with stock rom. if you want a stock alltel rom, they are available in the sticky. As for me, i wouldn't have a stock rom. I didn't on my Apache, my Titan, nor will I on this Touch Pro.

Seems to me that you don't really "get" the whole custom ROM process. We chefs don't have a large population of testers. We only have the community.

If you really like what the stock ROM offers. Use the stock ROM.

if you have an alltel tp then get ssk 1.2 it works perfectly flawless with mine. the only edit you will have to do it regedit the mms url to alltel url. other then that you should work fine on verizon network for net etc. mine works on mms for verizon and all tel so you may not have to edit at all.

but if your looking for a sable rom use it it works flawless.

If you're content driving a "Buick", then by all means, drive your "Buick."

But if you feel like taking a ride in a CORVETTE, call Conflipper, JD, Dream, Juicy, or one of the other really talented cooks.

Like they said, the Buick roms are stickied for your pleasure...

Also keep in mind that pretty much every stock ROM has its own share of issues. As far as custom ROMs go, there is a smaller testing community as mentioned and not all the cooks are experts. Many are learning a lot as they go.

IMO - if you like the stock ROM why not just use it and have a nice day?

I have to say that Sprint did an ok job on this stock rom. You could actually use this phone out of the box, unlike my mogul. That being said, I have found 2 ROMS that work as well for me as the stock, actually better. It just takes time to try out the different ROMS and learning how to tweak your phone to your liking. Thats the fun part. I don't expect any ROM to work 100% to my expections out of the gate. There are always little things you have to tweak to your taste. Thats what makes Windows Mobile so freakin great!

I will have to agree that with the stock rom I get the best battery life ,quickest gps fix and most stability ,I could name 100 I don't get ....that is where the cooks step in and give us the features alltel didn't think we needed or where not available at the time ,and you will notice when a new stock is released it contains many features and fixes that these cooks have been giving us (I think they watch sites like this to see what we want )

me personaly i use the best of both worlds, thanks to some tools conflipper gave me i use a kitchen based from alltel stock rom and add the things i like while i still am having problems getting some things to work right(dam pie 6) its a great learning experience.

I have an idea! Why dont you just build your own custom rom, then you, yourself, can ensure its stable and not missing anything. Then you wont have to worry about creating useless threads like this.
