n00b questions on ktichens
Hey,
I'm new to this site and to PDA's in general. I had a Mogul, but once I cracked the screen and only got to successfully work an "Bank Account Application", I sent it off and Phoneclaim sent me a HTC Touch Pro. I love this phone and I'm sure there is a lot to do. I've been searching the threads and clicked on links I needed... only to be denied permission or something like that. If you don't mind addressing a few questions/concerns I have, I'd greatly appreciate it: -What is a "Kitchen"? -Do I HAVE to have this huge clock on my Today Screen? (Right now, it blocks my fiance' and my face, but shows our bodies, lol) -Can I make a custom theme for my TP? (Or can you send me a NY Giants Theme, lol) -Lastly, what are more basic applications that don't require me to do a whole lot of stuff to install? This is where I lack: I do NOT know this tech-talk. So if its possible, can you respond in lamens terms? That would help too. I know how important "Thanx" are on this site and I wont hesitate to show my thanx as well as Copy & Paste your info to friends of mine who are just as confused, lol. |

Re: Please don't cast stones on me...
Well a kitchen is where you create your own custom roms. There is a cystal clock cab that you can install to make your time transparent so you can see your wall paper better, there is a cab you can install to where you can have your wallpaper on all tabs as well. Yes you can create custom themes for the phone as well. Most of this can be found in the sticky threads in the touch pro general forum. I would post links but I am at work and this computer fails at almost everything, even copy and pasting.

A kitchen is what you use to create a custom rom. It is called a kitchen because the people making the rom are said to be cooking the rom or cooking apps into it. If you really do not like the big clock, there are a couple things you can do. you can remove touch flo 3d, or you can get a rom that has a transparent clock so you can see the time and your woman. Anyone can install a custom theme, making one is a little more difficult. I suggest trying the ones available before making your own. A must to have is a backup copy of sprint tv, USE PIM BACKUP!!! it took me loosing 130 detailed contacts to realize the importance of this software!! Other than that you have a lot of reading to do, good luck BTW if you post in the general thread for the Touch Pro then you will get answers quicker. |

So, I wanted to load this "KK's Kitchen Rom", right? But once I do that, what will happen if I need to take the phone in for service? If your not familiar with that thread, I'll just go post this question there. |
Re: Please don't cast stones on me...
it is possible to put the stock rom back on the phone and re-lock it, make sure before you flash you unlock the phone with the hard-spl found in the sticky in the touch pro forum, im not sure if this site has things in place that dont allow you to download without a certain post count but that might be your problem, if your still having problems with the crystal clock pm me and i will send it to you, also as mentioned above a quick search at xda and you can find the corner clock.

Rename your thread to something like "n00b questions on ktichens" I do understand the overwhelming amount of info here and searching is not ALWAYS the best way. Let me know any specifics you have and I will do my best to assist you. Right now you I can see you n00bioshness and can relate... I was a n00b one time... Long ago. |

Some kind of "stylish" layout for my phone. If I can't get a theme for the NY Giants, I'll understand (beggers can't be choosey). I'd also like some applications that will make the battery life better as well as the overall performance of the phone. I don't need any "cutting edge" type stuff that I wont understand how it works later, but I would like to improve this phone. The Windows Tools are essential to me because I keep copies of my resume' and business plans with me at all times. So, basically a SWEET theme and a few appls. A brand new "kitchen" isn't really needed, I've only had the phone for 4 days. |
Re: Please don't cast stones on me...
To get rid of the big clock, can't you just swipe your finger up on the home screen? That will show a smaller clock....
