Alltel Nav on custom rom?
Is this possible? If so can someone extract? I tried to just enter the link in opera on juggalo's rom but it is just a dead link unless under alltel's stock. I just hate alltel's stock rom, so sluggish. Telenav's site does not even support any vga devices yet.

Re: Alltel Nav on custom rom?
Thanks that's the right path, but I guess I must have an alltel rom to use it because it always comes up with a navigation page error in ie and opera. I need the actual stripped program. I think alltel might have this gps thing really wrapped up, which is unlike them.

Re: Alltel Nav on custom rom?
Why do you want it, if you don't mind me asking? Google Maps and Microsoft Live Search are two free alternatives that run circles around Alltel's Navigation program. And again, I want to stress, they're FREE. Alltel Navigation is subscription based, even if you wanted to go the paid route, why not purchase a program like Google Navigator or better yet, Garmin Mobile XT, and pay a one time fee, instead of a monthly subscription fee as with Alltel Navigator?

Re: Alltel Nav on custom rom?
I agree that gps is unlocked, but I disagree in your assertion that Alltel Nav is required for the gps to function correctly. There is a lag in the gps of the Alltel Touch Pro (as with most of the other carriers), but it is believed to be either a hardware issue, or a firmware/driver issue. There are rumors of a firmware update from HTC soon that will correct the problem. I agree with you, the Titan was spot on as a GPS navigator, however, you had to unlock the gps by flashing a gps radio, as well as use a primer to open the gps gate (unless you used Shadowtech's aGPS fix). The Alltel Touch Pro works with GPS out of the box.
Conflipper is the local Alltel man around here as far as the Touch Pro goes, and he doesn't include Alltel Nav in his custom Alltel Rom. He does provide a cab, but if the phone REQUIRED Alltel Nav for the gps to work properly, I think he would include it as a core part of his rom. I hear you, the stock rom is slow and sluggish. Have you tried Con's 1-21-09 rom? Dream Phyre's latest is great, too. I'm afraid Alltel Nav won't solve your gps woes though, but if your lag miraculously goes away and gps works like your Titan did, please by all means get back to me and let me know. I'll be installing the cab lickity split. |
Re: Alltel Nav on custom rom?
I do have a custom rom with an alltel tp and my gps works perfect always instant lock on with 10 sats. I have tried different roms and all work well without the alltel nav program. Some programs do require manual config. Atm i use SSK 1.2 and if i load google maps and i use window config for gps it doesnt work. but the min i change the settings to manual and input gps ports and speed it gets instant lock on with 10 sats.
