It's not as pretty as SPB, but seems to work better. Plus, you don't have to buy the full version of SK Tools to use it. Just download the trial version, on which many things ARE limited, but the backup/restore feature is fully enabled!

The ONLY problem I have with this method, and I haven't looked too far into because it hasn't bothered me, is it does not back up messages. When I restore a backup, my SMS's are gone, and I have to re-set up my email account, which immediately re-pulls down any recent emails, so no harm done, just a extra seconds.

Other than that, all my apps and settings are restored perfectly, and it's like no hard reset was ever done :D

ANY back-up program that backs-up registry settings (where most preferences, etc. are stored) will cause a problem when you restore with a different ROM. Things change from ROM to ROM - even when just re-loading the same ROM (for example, the ActiveSync partnership with your PC, Exchange/IMAPI accounts and any Bluetooth devices each get a new unique GUID - Globally-Unique IDentifier at cold boot). The only approach I can recommend is to use a program to back-up files, but either give up on your registry settings, or apply them manually and then only after careful editing to make sure you only apply the relevant ones. Yes it's a pain in the A$$ but that's a price for being addicted to flashing... You can get good at it - I can re-customize my device after a flash in about an hour if I don't change too many things.

Froader posted a useful regedit on another thread - this regedit makes the reminder sound stop repeating - you only get it once. Thread and his response here. Hopefully Froader or Scott can cab this up and put it on SSK Online.

Thats what we are here for. We all started out as a Noob when it comes to all of this. But as long as you are ready to learn then that is what you will be able to do here.

When I try to start VZNavigator it says "The file OperaL cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certified, or one of its components cannot be found."

Any help?

That's odd... that's an Opera error for VZNav...?

are you using Opera in landscape mode? try portrait if so.

Don't you have to Accept something the first time you open VZNav? I know with Visual Voicemail I do! and it opens in Opera! Not sure why you are getting the error? Is opera installed? Are you in landscape? Not sure just throwing ideas out there!

Edit: Can you open Opera at all?

hi all - i changed my default browser to IE so it launches from the browser tab in TF3D. is it possible to list the favorites underneath "launch browser" as it did when opera was default? nothing major, it would just be handy. also, is it possible to do the same edit in total commander so that IE launches when in landscape mode as well? currently it does IE in portrait but switches back to opera in landscape.

The first time you try to use VZNavigator you have to go out to the Verizon website and click on their agreement page it will then activate VZNavigator for use. If you cooked your rom with the kitchen then most likely opera is not installed and you will need to install it I think scroser included it in the rom you just need to install it is all.

I just tried Google Maps on a short drive...Interesting...I don't like it for navigation because it doesn't have TTS directions, but it seems useful to monitor traffic backups in front of you....especially if you get tied up on an interstate. You could use it and "look ahead to see what/where the blockage ends" and use the 'Detour" function or your nav software to get by it...Has anybody tried it in that type of mode?

Haven't tried Microsoft "Live" yet, which do you think is better?

Forget it...I just remembered, that they probably use stored images, so I wouldn't be getting live shots.....damn
