For us 'flash-o-holics'... a good back-up program can work (sometimes), depending on what is different between the roms you try.

I used to use SPB Backup, but it was having a hard time restoring all my apps and settings between different roms. Now I'm using the backup feature built in to SK Tools (you can download the Trial SK tools and the backup part of the software is completely unlocked and free!). So far it hasn't given me any trouble.

Once you install a custom ROM made by Scott or cook one using his kitchen onto your TP, you can find the ssk online by doing this:

start->settings>sskonline (in between sounds/notifcations and today)

The sskonline is a web link that will open up in IE or you can cut/paste link in opera to open.

Check it out its pretty tight! You can download themes and a weather cab as scott is updating it as we go! will have lots more im sure!

But if you do a hard reset, then restore, wont the old registry and all the old system dll's and stuff be re-copied. Seems that might cause a conflict....or maybe if the flash didn't include a build change in the WM OS, maybe it doesn't make any difference

Installed Advanced Config and Diamond Config. Advanced was way too complicated for me to actually peruse through it, and some of the settings i tried to change didnt work so i uninstalled it.

Diamond tweak on the other is a keeper. Easily added some tabs back in and changed the order. No probs thus far. Loving it and this rom business!!

Scott,

A bit off topic here...Although you did mention tearing apart a VZW Touch Pro. Any update on that? I doubt there will be a surprise RAM chip, but would be exciting.

BTW - I built a rom with your 1.2 kitchen last night and it skipped screen calibration leaving me unable to do anything because it was so off. I had to revert. Any idea on that. I want to test your latest kitchen out.

Love the kitchen man. I get about 48mb of ram free after booting running touch flo HD with stock tab and weather both loaded up with goodies and all my programs installed including large title bar and start bar as well as ezinput keyboard. Best I have ever gotten using a different kitchen was 44 MB free but seemd to have a memory leak dropping it to around 40. Yours stays at 48 even after running several programs like IE and closing them I am back at 48. With the dialer skin off I get 58-59 MB of ram free, but I like the dialer with the slide to answer posted somewhere in this forum (props to whoever posted this since I can't find the thread now).

Here is your info:

Speed: Faster than any other rom I have tried

Can someone else check on the Settings - System - About tab and see if the OS version and Build version match up for them?

yep that's exactly what I got, so it's not just me. Scott had said this had been fixed since the earlier kitchen... does this mean the SYS files are wrong or something has been changed?

heh... I feel stupid now... I just cooked and flashed the ROM again thinking that maybe I had done something wrong :D
