Alltel Touch Pro opinion needed?

I got my Alltel Touch pro in Dec, well I'm running the Telus Radio but I just seem to have a lag with incoming calls snd sometimes it will go to voice mail instead of ringing. Should I just relock the phone and take it to Alltel for a excahnget? I guess what should I say the problem is? I don't want to draw attention about the Radio rom. Should I say the phone seems to freeze and I hard set it a few times? Since there is no damage and it would be under HTC warranty?

My ppc6800 had liquid damage and I had to pay a 95.00 detuctible and they gave me the pro touch for replacement.

Or should I just try a diffferent radio? Sprint did't seem as good I thought. The telus if thats the cause it was acting up in town with full bars phone ring once on 2 different incoming calls.

Well any suggestions in what I should tell alltel would be helpful. Since I do have a different radio on it. I locked the phone with the stock rom. The battery life seems very terrible after just talking on a call also.

Do the slot cycle index hack, changing the slot cycle from 2 to 1, and disable the tf3d dial skin and you'll gain 1-2 rings.

The new sprint radio is probably worth trying too.

I jsut don't think thats the problem, I have a feeling the Allel radio probably best matched the phone after all but still battery life isn't great either way.

I will give it another try, what rom are you most happy with? There are so many now I know some do improve battery life when I gave them a try.

But maybe the Alltel radio was the perfect match for there touch pro and the only way is to take it back under warranty with a little BS. :)

Say what you will, you asked for advice & I gave it to you. I have an Alltel Touch Pro, and am using the Telus radio. I know of the lag you speak of, but thats not a radio issue. I tested this last week. Called my phone before any hack, rang maybe twice on my phone before going to voicemail. The phone calling mine rang a total of 4 times, so I didnt hear the first 2. I did the slot cycle index tweak and removed the tf3d dialer skin and gained 7 seconds on my ring time, just under 2 whole rings. And I read somewhere the first ring a caller hears is a false connection ring. Try taking my advice before you dismiss it.

And by the way, Conflipper is THE MAN as far as Alltel custom roms go. He should be posting an updated rom any day now.

Hi, I'm not saying your wrong or anything like that, I never had the problem until I was actually in a strong signal area. I appreciate all the help from all members.

Do me a favor and try what I suggested and let me know what you think, if you still have a problem then just call Alltel customer service and tell them the phone is missing calls. They'll run you through some trouble shooting steps, including a hard reset, and if it doesnt solve your problem they'll more than likely send you a warranty replacement. I've had much better luck in dealing with 611 customer service than in store reps. Conflipper suggested to someone in a different thread to flash to the 1.03.15f Alltel Diamond radio before returning it, they probably wouldnt notice the difference.

First thing I did when I got my TP was lower the index to 1. It helps.

Welcome to Windows Mobile and the HTC Touch Pro... I don't care what anyone says or tells you. There are no radio's available that will be a miracle cure for your battery issue. These phones use battery, it's a given. I am not saying there won't ever be a fix...but right now, no hacks or radio's are going to fix the battery drain. They might help but only to a very small degree.

Exactly. I get a kick out of these guys who say their phone runs hotter with one radio than another, or they get a quicker gps fix, or more satellites, or they have more luck with the ladies with the Telus radio than the Sprint one. There are so many factors, from atmospheric/weather conditions, to network congestion, cellular coverage, etc... Those radios are just a tiny variable in how your phone is performing.

As I said in an earlier post, Conflipper's updated rom is now available, and I highly suggest you flash it if you're in the market for a custom Alltel Rom. Look here:

and don't forget to thank the man that made it all possible, CONFLIPPER.

The Alltel radio has no specific bearing that would make it perform better on an Alltel pro than a Sprint or Verizon one. It is just the version that was available at the time Alltel ran the pro through their qualification process.

As for my personal rom right now I'm using Dream's rom. I like it so far but I'm not opposed to trying out some others when I get more time.

Yeah, and forget those penile enhancement pills. I gained at least 3 inches after flashing the Telus radio! *hahaha*

Re: Alltel Touch Pro opinion needed?

hmm, if radio has nothing to do with service or perfomance, why can one radio (like the case of the titan) be non-gps and one gps? radio can make all the difference in the world, true, on average, radio upgrades tipically don't improve much, and most of the claims are just plaecebo effects, but every now and again, a radio does make a big differenct in the phone

Re: Alltel Touch Pro opinion needed?

I had the Alltel TP and it had TERRIBLE battery life, especially in my home which had a poor cell signal usually 0 bars but my calls rarely got dropped. if Imade a few calls and used the device regularly I might get 1-3 hours.

I flashed the telus radio and now I get 2 bars consistenly and battery is easily double to triple now after almost 2 weeks of use. The phone seems not to have charging problems and doesn't get near as hot as it did under the alltel radio.

How do you remove the TF3D dialer skin? I unchecked TF3D on the Today page, did that do it or is there something for dialer that needs to be turned off?

Re: Alltel Touch Pro opinion needed?

Use Advanced Config 3.3, and under phone options, disable dialer skin.

Re: Alltel Touch Pro opinion needed?

I have an Alltel TP myself..... I flashed it to Cricket and don't have too many problems. Here in AZ, the Telus radio seems to work best for me. As far as heat, battery life, etc..... the apps installed on the phone seem to affect that, esp if it's a bad combination of apps causing heavy cpu usage plus an open data connection that's maxed out. Just a side note, seems the cellular antenna near the bottom of the phone on the back side. hold the phone from the top during lousy signal issues and see if the bars change :-/
Just some input for ya.
btw, chicks dig me big time with the telus radio!
