*edit* it went through :) testing now

I had that same experience. It was more noticeable on the second reset, right after it flashed and went through all the customizations. And so I did a soft reset, believing it was frozen and tried again. And again it seemed to get stuck there for an eternity. Just as I was about the try again, it completed.

Kinda odd it would be so slow in installing that particular app. I also noticed when when it first comes on with the black screen, there's a white square in the upper left hand corner. That and the freezing made me think I had damaged the phone after I tripped on the ActiveSync cable and yanked the phone to the wooden floor, a drop of about 20 inches. Not a scratch on the phone. It seems to have a tougher shell than the Mogul.

Speaking of which, anyone out there using a skin on their phone? Anyone worth recommending?

Disclaimer (lol): I'm not responsible for the bricking of your phone, but honestly, the radio flash is even easier than the rom flash. You don't even have to copy the RUU_Signed.nbh over.

I thought I read in another thread that the new Sprint radio wasn't very good. I was just about to try the Telus radio - I get poor reception where I live - based on your urging. Now I am not sure if I should go Telus or Sprint v1.11.

from what i read...and my own experience sprint v1.11 is better than the telus release....the sprint radio before v1.1 wasnt that good though...but i would recommend v1.11 works good and not too much battery drain

I urge the Telus radio, but no the new Sprint radio is very good. There was a poll a while back asking people which radio they used. At first, the Telus radio was the clear winner by a large margin, but after a couple of days of voting, the new sprint 1.11 was actually the winner by a small margin. I reasoned this to most people here a sprint customers and they were too afraid to switch carrier names (although I've explained that doesn't matter).

I hate this sh'tty answer, but you just gotta see what works for you. For some the Sprint radio is better, others, the Telus is better. I can't really explain this, maybe different build dates do better with one, maybe some are just subjective (like sprint customer just wanting the sprint named radio to do better), I don't know. Like I said, I hate the "try it out and see for yourself" answer, I'd rather it be definitive (like which is the best rom? KKs), but it's not. Read through the Radio thread, see what people are saying. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Or just flash to one and don't try the other. Either is far better than the stock sprint 1.03.

It's cause the new omniano cab is HUGE. It's 8mb zipped, about 18 mb unzipped. (point of reference, most apps are a few hundred kb, like .5mb; weatherpanel is big and its like 2.5 mb

Kev maybe this should be left out in future versions? Not only would it speed up the install it would free up some memory as well. Just let the user download and install if wanted? just another of my 2 cents

either way, you'll still be my favorite chef

Remove that band app. IT is SOOO useless.

I didn't realize the update was such a large file. makes perfect sense why it would hang like that. I still think it's a cool app but given that the flute and guitar aren't functioning, it does seem like a lot of memory for half an app.

Thanks for the recommendations above with the radio. I went ahead and flashed it to Sprint v1.11. Can't say I've noticed a huge difference so far but I'll monitor it. My one big beef with Sprint is that in the 10 plus years I've been with them, while living here, reception from the tower has never significantly improved. Also causes a drain on my battery since the phone is always trying to lock in a signal. Maybe after I take a break from flashing I'll try the Telos radio.

I think you meant "please remove the band app" or "my vote would be to remove that band app".

I really don't like demands, they rub me the wrong way.
