Re: PagePool Changer Is Here And Works

I haven't seen anyone posting results they got with this, so here are mine:

I upped my pagepool to 32MB (hey, I have spent 2 days playing and have never had less than 100 meg of ram free before I made this change) on the stock rom (downloaded from another post on here), and so far I gotta tell you... this is awesome! I've never seen a windows mobile this fast and painless to use. 6MB is definitely not high enough; that's the same as what my mogul used!

I have also boosted every performance tweak in Advanced Config as high as it could go. OS use shows 84.76 Meg in "Device Information" and life is good.

The only bug I'm seeing right now is that for some reason in landscape mode some text (particularly the font used in textboxes) doesn't display correctly. I don't think this is related to the pagepool (don't see how it could be), but if someone else tries it let me know for sure if you experience the same problem.

If you have Advanced config installed, disable cleartype in landscape mode and your text should display fine. I had that issue also, and this is what fixed it

To clarify, it does not change what is used as the pagepool on stock roms. The stock roms are basically set with a 12MB pagepool. You can run the changer all you want, but unless your total program memory is changing, you are not changing the pagepool.

Here is an example of what it will look like if you actually do change it:

Interesting; I'll be the first to admit that it could be placebo (and it could be other optimizations that I made at the same time)

Please clarify; does this "pagepool changer" not really change anything, then?

Is there a way to change the pagepool?

Re: PagePool Changer Is Here ? Is Does It work For You

ok; any progress on figuring out how to really boost it? I'm going to assume, then, that the improvement I'm seeing has to do with other things (placebo being one of them, but I made other performance hacks too), but I'm betting that boosting the pagepool would speed things up even more; as long as I have all this ram, I want to use it =]

I have a dream of creating the ultimate performance ROM... sacrificing RAM left and right for speed, Speed, SPEED! <evil laughter>

oh, maybe I got carried away...

still, it's doing pretty well just boosting the performance settings in Advanced Config (and not using the flip clock... wow, memory hog). I'd like to play more.

well theoretically even if page pool settings were working possibly wouldn't u be increasing mah draw? More ram usage -> greater battery drain?

Has anyone effectively set and tested out using dynamic pagepool and is it worth setting it to 0?

uh, no. RAM draws power whenever your device is on, regardless of whether you are actually "using" it. That's why manufacturers try to increase battery life by reducing the amount of physical RAM.
