Well, it came up with a message saying the service was temporarily out. Can anyone see if its working for them right now? I am going to also restart my phone see if that makes a diff.

Thanks for checking, mine is now doing that after a reboot instead of giving the error message so maybe they are updating the site or something.

Re: JD's ROM

Just curious, how many people are having problems with the picturemail on this latest build? I know it was said to be fixed and I know n2c has it working on his new rom so is it just me or my phone or are there still a good number of people with this problem? Only asking because I don't want to reflash again tonight unless i know its a rom problem and not just a faceplant moment on my part.

So, is JD rom having problems?

LOL, that is what I am trying to figure out. Everything EXCEPT picturemail is working beyond my wildest dreams for this phone. If you aren't a heavy user of picturemail I can easily recommend someone using this ROM.

hopefully he will come up with something

Re: JD's ROM

I been following JD work since touch days and he actually makes the best rom fast! But sometimes there annoying single issue that can't be resolve. LOL... Do you if he going to update his rom and take out cyberon or something.. if so, i will wait before i flash my phone...

deviant.ones 11-06-2008 03:24 AM

Re: JD's ROM

he mentioned possibly putting VC back in since alot of people prefer it. I just installed it in cab form for now, cyberon is useless for me. Way too many contacts to individually record each persons name.

Re: JD's ROM

lets be honest. people on the stock rom are complaining about picture mail problems. this is kinda a touch and go problem now matter who you are. i don't think its a problem with this rom lol.

Re: JD's ROM

run quickGPS first, i get nearly instant locks with JD's after running quickGPS. Before I ran quickGPS it was 20-30 sec to get a lock on 1-2 sats, after 1-2 sec for 7-8 sats.

I deleted my message regarding gps. It was a pebkac error. Thanks though.

Well, I decided to hex the pagepool to 32 and re-flash just to be sure a bad flash wasn't the problem and the picturemail still isn't working so I flashed to n2c and it is working there so it is rom specific in my case. Stock and n2c work, shadow and JD don't. Havn't tried hibbys and am too tired and have to get up for work in 2h 49m so I am crashing.

Re: JD's ROM

well, i decided to just keep trying to connect and after about the seventh attempt it suceeded at setting up the picture mail so not sure why it is instant in n2c but i am happy. now for sleep and tomorrow i have to get my wifes tp up fs since she decided its too complex for her, see everyone tomorrow. gotta shut phone off so i stop responding to alerts lol

Just replace them with numbers you got in the firt step and run G'Reloc again with the new numbers and this should work. It has for me with the pro.

i have done this with many different sys folders and it hasnt worked yet. i used to use that method with my mogul and Touch and worked for them but it aint working on this with the 20XXX builds.

That's funny, I was able to get my wife into a Palm Centro back in February. Yesterday when I got home from work she showed me a couple phones she was looking at, the Treo Pro and 800w. =D> I have been trying to get her into WinMo for a while and I think she is starting to come around. :headbang: I might get her the 800w for Christmas since the Treo Pro is still GSM, but there have been rumors of a CDMA Treo Pro.

cornelious2 11-06-2008 09:32 AM

Re: JD's ROM

from what I hear about the 800w you might want to try to ebay a 700wx or she might hate winmo forever haha.

jason25 11-06-2008 09:36 AM

Re: JD's ROM

Thanks for the heads up. I had a 700wx and she couldn't stand the little nub antenna. I do however still have my old housing for that. Those things are so easy to take apart. I changed that one after I put a smoke housing on my i870. WOW the 700ex was so much easier.

My fiancee only wanted a Winmo phone because she saw all of the customizing I could do, the games I could install for free and how easy it was to install ringtones. The problem is she gets frustrated easily, does mostly texting and would end up having me do all of her customizing...I convinced her to stick to the traditional style slide out keyboard phones and we got her a new Samsung Rant. Very similar to the LG Rumor (her old phone) but much better. She loves it :) She is still disappointed that she can't get all the goodies I can but she realized how much easier the Rant would be for her.

I actually used this method with the 22222 build the other night, but I am still skeptical on how legit that build is.

on the 11/5 update, it said it fixed picture mail but I don't even have picture mail anymore after installing the rom. is there a new rom with pic mail? Thanks.

I think he just fixed the issue so when you install the picmail cab it will now work... at least it has for me.

oo thanks. do you have a link to the pic mail cab?

dream_phyre 11-06-2008 11:26 AM

Re: JD's ROM

Last I remeber that cab was taken down due to legal issues. You might be able to goolge it. You can also download from sprintpower deck (homepage in opera on the stock sprint rom), or if your familar with a kitchen you can extract it from the stock sprint rom.

Sprints powerdeck is your best option anyway as itis an updated version and it's legit.

The sprint powerdeck site is still the default homepage in Internet Exploder. Just open up IE and click on check for updates, install the cab, and it should work for ya.

Re: JD's ROM

ok going into the kitchen now .... as far as the picmail issue IT IS NOT rom specific I have been using picmail all night ..... as far as pagepooling as I have said with my touch and mogul rom I use the default pp what ever sprint\HTC has it at if you change it you may develop some problems that you alone will have to work out .... yes there is gonna be an update today or tonight ... I kinda held off to see if anymore issue would pop up before I made another rom .... but since nothing serious has popped up I'm ready to get to work so that I can finally start using my phone ... lol ....

Thanks JD, you're the man! We definately appreciate all the hard work you have put into making this ROM as smooth and stable as possible. I flashed it late last night and haven't run into any problems at all.

the only problem I've run into, and not a big deal, is with Sprint TV. I reinstall the cab, but when I fire the app up, is shows loading for all of the channels....then nothing. I'm not sure this is a problem with the ROM though, but I'm not certain, it worked before. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your continued work!

Re: JD's ROM

How about you guys do some of us a favor and make another thread for the use JD's ROM in the kitchen? I always come back here seeing new posts and it is about using his ROM in the kitchen rather than actual updates about his ROM.

Re: JD's ROM

The only issue I've really encountered is when I'm on the phone and I'm trying to do other things on the phone (add calendar events, check text messages) if I don't push anything n the screen for about 3 seconds it goes off. Doesn't give you much time to think or read. Not sure how we would extend that.

thats because I removed the sprint tv channels .xml file which they did not include in the cab file

thought of that one too ;)
I backed that XML file up as well, and put it in the /windows/ directory.
I'll keep screwing with it, like I said its not really a big issue for me.
