Thanks-

Re: Touch Pro CDMA Hard-SPL brought to you by CDMA Raphael Elite Team

Ok, I need some help. I've tried this several times, and I can't get it to work. I've never done this before but am super excited to get this working.

1) download Hard-SPL package from attachment, extract to an empty folder.
folder on my device?

2) you must Have Phone Synced with PC in Windows Mobile!
done.

3) run HardSPL exe that you downloaded before.
Run it on the device, right?
**as soon as I run HardSPL I go to the tri color screen and lose my activesync connection.

4) follow steps in the RUU, and check on the device for prompts after PC shows loading bar.
**So this means I run the RUU utility here? Don't I need to have an activesync connection still?

5) it should go to tricolour screen now and say 0.25.C-SSPL or for Verizon devices it should say 0.35-C-SSPL.
I got to this step, and this is where I lose the activesync connection. The installation of RUU then fails.

6) SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done.
7) to confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen!) and verify the screen shows 0.35.CMONEX or 0.37.CMONEX (or 0.25.CMONEX MFG).

So there are two steps? first unlocking, then reboot before running RUU utility?
I'm confused. Anyone care to break down the steps a bit more carefully?
Like I said this totally new to me, but the instructions seem somewhat confusing. Thanks alot if you can help.

Running the Hard SPL gives me a 284 error (communication error), right after I lose connection with activesync. WTF, looks like I am sticking with this piece of sh*t OS that verizon sold me. Can't anyone help me out?

You do have a verizon touch pro, correct? If so, continue.
1. No, on the computer
3. No, on the computer. The file name you need to run is Raphael_VZW_HSPL_035.exe. You're suppose to lose connection with activesync after it goes to tri-color screen. That's normal. It's doesn't happen till step 5 though.
4. No, you already ran the ruu utility in step three. just follow the steps in the ruu.

Just follow the steps. After you connect the phone and activesync is established and you run the Raphael_VZW_HSPL_035.exe it will take care of everything.

Ok, I ran through the steps after launching Raphael_VZW_HSPL_035.exe.
My device went to the tri-color screen, said security unlocked, and automatically rebooted. So now it's unlocked?

Now is when I launch the ROMUpdateutility.exe that came with Scott's ROM to install his ROM?

I just got a VZW Touch Pro off of my warranty.

I'm trying to unlock the phone but when I run VZW_TP_SSPL-Manual.exe from the phone (and use RUU), I get the msg on the screen that

RAPH500
SPL-0.35.C-SSPL
MicroP-Wrong Platform(0x85)
MicroP-Raph (KEY) v0682
PSOC-Raph STAGE_EVT v20

And it just hangs there. Anyone else experience this? I flashed my old phone with nor problem.

you are doing it wrong. all you do is connect the phone to computer and activesync connected, then you run the Raphael_VZW_HSPL_035.exe file on your computer.

Does it say anything else on the bootloader screen? Like...in red lettering or anything?

What about when you manually put it into bootloader by using the the 3 button press? Does it say the same exact thing?

Three button press says same thing. Nothing in Red except what is on the top "Security Unlocked"

In terms of preparation instructions. I have the .NET framework and am using 0.35 for Verizon as instructed. I didn't think this would be an issue since i've done this on my previous phone but for some reason, can't do it on this newer phone.

Must be something wrong with it saying "Wrong Platform" on the bootloader screen. I would flash the verizon shipped rom to see if it clears that up. Or how about trying to unlock from the memory card. You can extract the nbh from the Raphael_VZW_HSPL_035.exe file by just opening it and it will self extract and you will see the nbh file, then just copy and paste it to a different folder, then rename to RAPHIMG.nbh and put it on the mem card, and then use the VZW_TP_SSPL-Manual.exe to put the phone into bootloader

Flashed from the SD Card and that worked. Thank you so much!

Hello,
I just downloaded the SPL to unlock for my sprint.
Well just out of curiosity I checked the security to see what my current was
THis is what it says
Security Unlocked
Raph800
SPL-0.37.0000
MicroP-Hermann (LED) v0C85

Could it be that mine is already unlocked or should I still run the unlocker

0.37.0000 means you're locked, so follow the steps in the first post of this thread to unlock. If you have any problems just let us know.

ummmm...What's the setup error? Can you give anymore details? If you go to add/remove programs, is it listed there? I would just go ahead and press on with the unlocking.

yes it is listed there, on the control panel add/remove app? What is this program for, do i open it in the unlocking stage and use it for anything? should there be a shortcut on the main screen for this program after it is installed or is it just installed on the desktop? it is not shown on the programs menu.

Don't worry about it anymore. It just has to be installed. Just follow the instructions in post 1.

Do you have Microsoft Activesync(for XP) or WMDC(for Vista) installed? When you plug your phone in, are you choosing Activesync on the menu that pops up on your phone? If so, try going to Start-Settings-Connections-USB to PC, and uncheck the box under Activesync.

Try rebooting computer and phone. If that doesn't work then check that box instead of having it unchecked. If that doesn't work, try a different usb port.

You're welcome.
The term UNLOCKING means different things for every device. For the touch pro, it just means that you can now flash any of the custom roms and radios for the CDMA Touch Pro, which are listed in the upgrade forum here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=68

You only have to relock it if you have to return it, so yea, just leave it unlocked.

Quick question...when bringing a phone back to store for fix/replacement, what should/should not be on it? I know I need to relock it, but do I need to put the original ROM back on it? There is no OEM stock ROM on vzw.com so will one that I find here at PPCGeeks or XDA work?

Just wanted to know if anyone had a quick word on how the phone should be brought back.

Thanks in advance,

eGG

Yea, you need to have the stock rom and radio back on it and relock it. Flashing the shipped rom will flash the stock rom and radio, and sometimes relock it, so check to see after if you still need to run the relocker.
You can get the shipped verizon stock rom here. (It says pre-release, but it's the one that the phone came with) http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42741

I too need to get my phone fixed under warranty. I just reflashed and I believe it's locked. Here's what the bootloader screen reads:

Security Unlocked

RAPH500
SPL-0.35.0000
MicroP-Raph (LED) v8182
MicroP-Raph (Key) v0682
PSOC-Raph STAGE_EVT v20

Serial

I'm concerned simply because the top part says "Security Unlocked" It's still locked though isn't it? I want to make sure I don't needlessly lose the warranty. Thanks for the help!

putting back to stock is the main thing.......re-locking is secondary and not as important....I have taken them back un-locked.....

I know this is probably a VERY noob question, but will this unlock a Sprint Touch Pro to work on the Verizon network? If not, is there another way to do so?

I have the Samsung Omnia right now, but I really want the Touch Pro. However, Verizon's version is quite gimped, so I thought about buying the Sprint Touch Pro instead.

Thanks for any help.

Edit: This may be the wrong place to ask this, but do any of you guys have suggestions regarding the HTC TP versus the Samsung Omnia i910? So far I have loved my Omnia, but I would really like to have a physical keyboard. I'm pretty sure I can e-bay my Omnia and then grab a HTC TP, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask for some more opinions first.

Unlocking the phone will only allow you to flash different roms. You have to reprogram the phone and load a different prl for it to work on Verizon. Besides, it's extremely difficult to find a way to activate a sprint phone on the verizon network so I would suggest not bothering. Just my opinion.

As for your other question, the right place for that is here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=60

Thanks for the quick reply. I understand that it's going to be difficult, but you do think it's possible to do? I've done different flashes before, including flashing an Alltel Rom onto a Verizon phone, so I've got a little bit of experience.

You wouldn't happen to have a link for somewhere that talks about doing it would you? I've tried Googling it, but nothing's really coming up.

Here's a thread discussing it http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=61926.

It has nothing to do with flashing a rom. That's simple. You have to reprogram and load a vrz PRL, which is also fairly easy if you know a little bit. The difficult part is finding a way to activate it. The link I gave you should help you out. Also, checkout howardforums website for more info.

I am having some trouble unlocking my verizon TP. I successfully unlocked a previous phone with your instructions without any problems but I recently sent my phone back because of a defective screen issue. Now I have a refurbished TP that will not unlock and I hate the stock ROM!

When i try to run the RUU, I get a 262 connection error on the PC side. The phone goes into bootloader and then freezes on either the loading screen or at 0%. It has never made it past 0%, ive tried several times. I've tried to hard reset and tried a different usb port without success.

Any suggestions?

How do I unlock from my SD card?

As far as not being able to unlock through activesync, have you tried this: Click on start-settings-connections (tab)-USB to PC, then uncheck the box under Activesync. Also, try rebooting the computer if you haven't already. Also, you can try a different usb cable.

To unlock from microSD card follow the instructions here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=61333

Thank you for the quick response. I did uncheck the box and have tried different usb cables.

The link you posted for using the SD card is for sprint and i have verizon. On that page, he says to get an "nbh outta the verizon unlocker." I am not sure how to extract the nbh file from the RUU uploaded on page 1 of this thread. Any ideas? Can I use the NBH on cornelious2's thread or is that for sprint only?

Correct, the one on cornelious2's thread is just for sprint, alltel, telus, bell, USCC. Use the verizon unlocker in this thread. To extract the nbh from the verizon unlocker, download and save and extract to desktop, open the exe file and the ruu will run and you will see the exe file self extract on your desktop and then you'll see the nbh file. Just copy and paste it to a different location and then you can hit cancel on the ruu. Now you have the nbh file. Just rename it and put on FAT32 formated memory card. Then put the vzw SSPL manual on your phone memory and open it with file explorer program on your phone.
