Mine does not look like that.
How exactly do you get to that point? There shouldn't be a difference but I want to make sure we are looking at the same screen.
Here's my keyboard when I go to the Messaging Tab in Sense and then click on the icon on the top right to create a new message, I brought up the numerics to try to be similar:

well because i was sending a sms to test the rom , and i didnt do anything it just poped up like that right off the bat..

thank ill try that and report back to you , also i was just looking at the Max Manila post and saw his notification icons look better than the plain whet ones how do i\I get them?

I know the colored ones are out there, if they are not in that post you saw them in then there may be a link within that thread.

What rom are you running? 2.5 or 2.1?
Skyfire working great here on Sense 2.5
