Run QuickGPS first and download the update. Don't know why but this seems to help. I personally don't ever have any issues and I'm also on Sprint.

Yes it's my mistake. I posted about it last night. It is M2.5 the splash screen is incorrect. Ima fix it this evening.

I ran the update for the quick gps then tried to run the weather update but no go...still getting the same error "there was a connection error whie attempting to download weather data. Retry?

I have gotten this error message on occasion on different ROMs. There doesn't ever seem to be any rhyme or reason to it for me. Usually it will just start working by itself.

I second that! I have had this experiance with the weather update on several ROMs from several Chefs. Happens to me usually off a new flash, will often fix itself within a day. I have flashed a TON of ROMs and have only had it happen maybe three or four times at random. Weird....

I loaded this ROM yesterday and it was working great until today I tried to run google maps and got an internal error. The phone restarted and is now stuck at the touch pro load screen. I tried to connect to the device manager to reflash with no luck. Anyone have any ideas? Hope its not bricked.

If you can get to bootloader like sharkie suggests you could reflash, if not you can do a manual hard reset.
Turn the phone off, completely off.
Hold the Down volume and the center of the D-pad then also press and hold the power button until you get the hard reset warning. Press Up volume for the hard reset. Run the ROM again and see if everything checks out.
