[KERNEL] Ziggy471 Droid Incredible Kernels [Updated 31 Aug]

Ziggy471’s Kernels for Droid Incredible

After trying a few of the kernels out there, I figured I’d dust off my kernel building skills. Being that most of my computer experience is in ‘Nix and I’ve been running Linux since the pre 1.0 kernel days, and have compiled and tweak more kernels then I really care to remember, I figured WTH. So here is my first of hopefully many kernels that I’ll be posting here and on PPCG, I have others testing on different devices right now.

I decided to release my kernels here on PPCG, due to the need for Android development here, please don’t take that the wrong way, I still hang out on XDA too. lol

31 Aug 10:
- Removed BFS, it didn't play nice with the Interactive Gov
- Added MinMax Gov
- Overclock is now capped at 1.152 for stability
- As I remember the other things, I'll add them in here

Click Here to Download (31 Aug 10)

27 Aug 10:
- HTC Verizon MR Incredible Kernel 2.6.32.15 base
- Using Koush’s AnyKernel update.zip
- Overclocked – Up to 1.190Ghz
(1.152GHz appears to be my sweet spot, others may be different, but you have been warned)
- Undervolted
- CPU Scaling Interactive supported (Default)
- CPU Scaling Ondemand supported
- CPU Scaling Userspace supported
- CPU Scaling Performance supported
- CPU Scaling Powersave supported
- CPU Scaling Conservative supported
- EXT4 as a module
- CIFS as a module
- BFS scheduler
- A whole lot more that I can’t remember.

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD (27 Aug 10)

As always, I am not responsible for any damage you may or may not do to your phone.

I'd definitely like to know, so I can make a better one for everyone to enjoy.

I know if I run at 1.190, I have the occasional kernel panic with a reboot, especially while running Quadrant, that's why I recommend 1.152, but I've read other places that people have been successful at that speed, so I left it in.

Re: [KERNEL] Ziggy471 Droid Incredible BFS-OC-UV-Inter

Im seeing alot of what looks like "corruption data" spots. In other words, after I install the zip and reboot, im seeing little black lines appear sparatically throughout the screen. I am unable to get out of lock screen which will not allow me to access anything nor will it allow me to "fast push" any of the Oncreeen commands (reboot/powerdown/etc). Battery pull has to be performed. Same issues with the pm .zip you sent me.

Out of curiosity, (and I know this has nothing to do with the issues on hand) what are you undervolting this kernel to?

Never seen any issues like that, but if one person has those, others may. I'd be more than willing to up the voltage to get yours working.

Here's the list:
Clock-Orig VDD-New VDD2
245760-1050-900
384000-1050-975
422400-1050-1000
460800-1050-1000
499200-1075-1050
537600-1100-1050
576000-1100-1075
614400-1125-1100
652800-1150-1125
691200-1175-1150
729600-1200-1175
844800-1250-1225
883200-1275-1250
921600-1300-1275
960000-1300-1275
998400-1300-1275
1036800- -1275
1075200- -1300
1113600- -1300
1152000- -1300

These are the same as most others that are running undervoltage on their kernels. I'll do another build today with all stock voltages for you to see if that helps.

Lafester, are you seeing anything along the lines of what I posted with sparatic black lines on the screen?

@Ziggy, I think it may not have anything to do with what you are using. I asked a buddy to flash your first kernel and he did it with no issues whatsoever. it MAY perhaps have something to do with the rom im using...Skyraider and Cyanogen. Ill flash back to stock on Wednesday and try to re run it.

Hopefully this will help kick start it, at least that's what Mr. X and I are hoping. lol

I have not used it with Cyanogen, but I'm currently running Skyraider 3.0 RC2, and it's working fine with that. It could be a few things causing it, your ramdisk could be borked, I've had that happen before, or left over modules in lib/modules that might be interfering with the kernel. You didn't happen to try and add the interactive governor before, did you?

Sorry, I didn't get around to making a new test kernel for you yesterday, it was a typical Monday, and I hate Mondays. lol However, the version I gave you via PM without BFS is running alot better on my phone, so I think there is an issue with BFS and the Interactive Governor. So either today or this evening, I'll re-compile with that and possibly something new and re-post for everyone, unless it ends up being Monday day #2.

Are you kidding me thats no problem whatsoever! the fact that your allowing me to be part of this is more meaningful to me.

I actually switched over to Skyraider last night. Ill give it a shot again when I wake up this afternoon. Untill then its bedtime for me :)

Re: [KERNEL] Ziggy471 Droid Incredible Kernels [Updated 31 Aug]

been running good for me @ 1152.
snappy overall but at first it almost seemed a little jumpy when scrolling but it seems to have settled in nicely. quadrant scored around 1460 on first run so not too shabby at all.

i'll keep it on for awhile longer and see how it goes.

when i first loaded it i did seem to have something going on at the top of the screen when scrolling. it has gone away and is very smooth and fast now.

i'm running adrynalyne's wave four based off latest 2.2 build.

Re: [KERNEL] Ziggy471 Droid Incredible Kernels [Updated 31 Aug]

Ok what I DO know to be true for me at least.
It wont work with:
CM6 stable
Skyraider 3.2

Im downloading Skyraider RC3 and see what will happen, ill test if for a few days if it works and then try the email kernel. After which Ill try it on Jager.

Ziggy, are you basing this kernel on a SenseUI Platform?

I just finished a new beta Kernel with drastic under-volting, it gives awesome battery life, however, due to recent events, I plan on posting it over on XDA here in a few days.

xda really has taken over as the most active resource for cdma android.
i'll be sure to check out your thread and post up a review.

I know Ziggy isn't updating his posts here @ PPCG anymore but he has some really nice kernels out now on his website that are updated from the ones he has in this thread. Anyone who frequents XDA is probably aware of this but I just wanted to add it here on PPCG for those that are new and/or don't frequent XDA.

The link to Ziggy's website is in his OP of this thread.

Is Ziggy the new goto guy for Incredible kernels?

Are you running Gingerbread on the Inc?
