I really dont get the latest trend of un-rooting/re-rooting.
I did it (like you said to learn) way back in the beginning but some people seem to think it will "fix" things. With hboots changing and Sprint/HTC throwing up roadblocks to rooting I say it's not worth the risk. (I know those roadblocks will eventually fall but still....)

Yeah I have heard I could also take an OTA "in theory" but haven't seen anybody do it and I don't wanna bork my phone either just to see. Agreed, I don't get that either (fixing things that is) ... now I just gotta get that brother-in-law of mine to let me get my hands on his EVO! Then I could do me sum learnin'! hehe

Remember kernel compatibility has more to do with your device than the ROM.
Unless the kernel kook specifies a ROM then you should be good to go with any Sense kernel on OMJ.
IMO I stay away from trickle charging, reviews are mixed from what I've read and there's the POSSIBILITY that it could fubar your battery.
I dont pretend to know enough about batteries to make a suggestion one way or the other, I'm just putting the info out there. As always the choice is yours. I know people that love their trickle charge kernel.
I'm a big fan of ziggy for modded kernels and he wont touch the battery code:

If you use amon (and assume CWM) to create the wimax.img then in the event you lose your RSA keys you can restore it just like any other ROM restore via the restore function in recovery.
Still always good to know the manual techniques just in case.

I keep gettiing verification failed when flashing these kernels. Keeps saying the zip is not signed correctly.
