Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.2 Custom ROM v2.1 | FroYo 3.26.651.6 | *Updated 8/5/10*

Same basic principle but here's another option without having to do the factory reset:

Why not cut to the chase and do a ##3282#?

This will allow you to Start the Hands Free Activation Process and update your PRL without forcing you to do a Factory Reset.

I believe I updated mine this way, but am not positive with all the testing I have done.

Steps:
  1. Dial ##3282#
  2. Enter Edit Mode
  3. Enter your MSL
  4. Select Data Profile
  5. Menu
  6. Restore
  7. Let Phone Reboot, and Wait and the Hands Free Activation will Start.
  8. Repeat until you have 1.40 PRI.

Can we have some more people test this?

If I am missing something then please let me know, but to me this seems much easier way to go about it then doing a ##768# or is it the same exact thing? It's late and I am tired so if this is the same exact thing please let me know and I will delete the thread

It just seemed this did not force you to do an entire Factory Reset.

Cheers.

The first method worked for me. I did not test this. The PRI update portion is exactly the same, just dont have to factory reset. Just throwing it out there.
This method may take multiple attempts as well.

Thanks Bro!!
GOT IT ALSO... I'm good.. Thanks to every1 for the help... Got it in 2 attempts. Did a Nand Restore (ROM Mgr) and everything seems to be working GREAT... Now I need to figure out WHY the battery is dieing on me sooooo freaking fast.. If I let the phone sleep, it won't consume battery but regular usage, data mostly (3g) it kills the battery..

Was OMJ working on a battery???.apk or something?? Will that be in the new ROM..

C'mon... Hook us up...

I doubt the error means much, do you have your card partitioned?
I dont and did not see an error.
The PRI is not included in the ROM (never was). We got knocked back to 1.34 when we unlocked Nand via Toast II. Now all we're doing is forcing an update back to 1.40.
PRI/PRL/radios are separate from the ROM.

Battery is good, still playing with setcpu and I was on my phone all day,plugged/unplugged, tethering so I dont have a good outlook on battery yet. The kernel allows for some very low underclocking with Setcpu but even without that battery life should be improved over stock kernel.
What are you trying to update? Just the kernel? Then just flash it from recovery, no need to wipe unless you run into issue and need to reflash the kernel, THEN wipe cache and dalvik before the reflash.

OK, then like I said just flash it over an older one. That's how I do it.

How's your reception? I've read a low signal can interfere with the process.
Which steps are you trying?
Are you positive you dont have it? You will see the "no firmware available" message even when it works. Check Menu/settings/about phone/software info to be sure
