Went to the marketplace and uninstalled/reinstalled and it works fine.

BTW - Can someone tell me how to get the APK files on my storage card after I download/install? I want the actual APK file so that I can install it again if I switch roms w/o having to find them in the Marketplace.

Hotspot will not work on rooted roms. Not sure if rooting the phone caused it not to work, or actually installing a custom rom. But it won't work.

I have been using Android Mate/File Explorer to copy the APKs from the /data/app folder to a folder on my sdcard so that I wouldnt have to search the market for the apps I like again

I played with the EVO in the Sprint Store yesterday. I almost drooled! :-o

I'm getting my hands on one soon enough, and trying to absorb all this info into my head prior to getting it.

So the way i see it, rooting allows you to be the system admin to delete oem apps and be able to flash a custom rom..

the steps -> root, clear both caches, flash rom and enjoy?

(as you can tell, i am a NOOB)

Thanks. I'm not interested in installing apps on the card, just putting the APK's on the card for installing w/o using the marketplace.
I'll check out the Titanium option.

Thanks. This is exactly what I had in mind. I just didn't know where to look for the APK's. I thought I checked that folder before, but obviously not.
This will save me some time since I keep flashing new roms.

Until I figure out how to get them to auto-install, this will be the next best thing.

Hello,

I'm having an issue with the Rom Manager, when I select "Check for Rom Update" I get "Your Rom is properly not set set up to receive OTA updates. The developer of this ROM needs to make the appropriate changes so their ROM support OTA update. Please contact the ROM developer! This is not a ROM Manager bug." Is this expected behavior?

This is how I got to this point.

I was running the previous version before the update on the 18th - v1.3

I updated Rom Manager to v1.8.9.6 Premium, then selected Download ROM -> OMJ "OMJ's HTC EVO ROMs" -> OMJ_EVO_2.1_Eclair_v1.4 with Radio 1.39.00.05.31

It downloaded I selected to wipe and update. I'm pretty sure the wipe and upgrade went ok, the phone is up and running and got my apps back etc here is the current info.

Current Software Information:
Software Number: 1.32.651.6 OMJ

Baseband Ver: 1.39.00.05.31

Is there a way for me to fix that so the updates are tied into ROM Manager or did I do something wrong?

OMJ has to set it up with ROM Manager. There is nothing you did wrong.

Hey I've rooted using toast's method. What are the benefits of unlocking the nand protection? Do I need to unlock my nand? here are the instructions.

Thanks given. I use Ti Backup since I'm already in there backing up other settings.
BUT thought I'd mention the Apps Manager feature of Android Mate makes it even easier.
Simply long press on the app you want to pull up the menu and select Backup. It'll throw a copy into a am (Android Mate) folder on your card. No file path navigation, copy/paste needed. Sweet!

Hey I rooted and flashed this ROM yesterday, and everything's fine except I'm getting this weird error where when I unlock the phone, the lock bar get's stuck, and then it kinda freezes, and the phone won't turn on. I have to soft reset it. Sometimes it will just have the top curtain when I turn it on and be unresponseive, and I have to soft reset. LOL it happened while I was typing this out.. Any suggestions?
