Anyone done 4g USB Tethering. I just moved to a new house and I don't have my DSL setup yet. So I decided to try out USB tethering and then sharing my connection through my router. It works but for some reason I can't USB tether at 4g - Only 3g is what my phone is picking up. There is 4g in my area. I confirmed it by checking my second EVO, which did pick up the 4g.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I'm using the regular USB Tether prompt that comes up on the EVO when you plug it to the PC. I'm running OMJ 4.0 (Runs AWESOME by the way..)

Let me know..

Thanks

Congrats on finally getting 4G Bro. afaik Wireless Tether is the only 4G option. Hotspot and USB are both limited to 3G.

I have to agree this ROM is great, except the WiMx Notifier (non stop abend)

I have tried to FREEZE the WiMax from within Titanium (Per an earlier post) and still errors....

I started using the older version of wimax notifier and it seemed to solve the problem for me. Try giving that a shot for you guys. Doesnt do MMS but I take that over the alternative. LOL

Thanks.. I haven't seen the advertisement, but someone at work told me that Sprint Advertised Miami as a 4G area now. It's limited to certain areas but it has been working. The speed is very inconsistent.

I tried PDANET (Free Version) and it does give me 4g USB Tethering. But you have to install a program on the PC and also the App on the EVO. If I want to access HTTPS sites PDANET wants $15 or $16 dollars (Regularly $24 or $25)... A little steep in my opinion. But the 4g does carry over to my home network.

I'm gonna try streaming some video via Playon using PDANet on my phone at 4g. Playon has a bandwidth test which tells me if the steam will work.. I was getting Good speed yesterday.

Take care.. Thanks

If ur referring to the toast notification popping up all the time just bring up the wimax app goto advanced settings and uncheck always show notifications and it goes away ... if ur talking about the occasional force close msg I got nothing for ya! Hehe ... but I have just hit the force close when it pops up and it obviously starts itself again when a text comes through and seems to work just fine ... don't care one way or the other though if u ditch it, I only use it cause its there but was fine w/o it

@OMJ

Don't remember, did u pm Cyan or Calk about the UA thing? I sent Calk a pm about a week or so ago but hasn't responded ... thought he might respond to you though since you are well ... OMJ and all :) Hehe

... oh and what was ur take on 4.0 vs 4.0x on battery after you ran .x for a few days? Any difference?

When i first flashed to 4.0, the wimax notifier used to pop up and nothing would happen (The program just didn't work). The popups were annoying. Also it would constantly FC on me. So i decided to delete the program via applications and then the phone wouldn't boot up. Long story short, I flashed it again with 4.0 w/o wiping or formatting and this baby works really well. I disabled the notifications and barely notice it's there (it will FC on me about twice a week). I do, however, have an extra 3500mah battery that I carry around. So, the phone gets a reboot every time i'm swapping batteries (usually every other day).

Hope this helps
