the sprint hotspot apk won't install.. is there a trick to it? anyone have a recommendation for a good uninstall program? i want to remove advanced task killer free (since i paid for the full one) but can't seem to find a way to remove it. the free uninstall apps i found don't list it.

Not on the ROM yet but I assume you are paying for the Sprint Hotspot and that's why you want the apk?
Android Mate uninstalls apps just fine. You can also go to Market/Downloads and the app should be there which you can uninstall from there.

As per OMJ:
ROM1 No
ROM2 Yes
If you flashed 1 and its really important to remove it then flash 2 and yank it (the app :evil4: )

So if I'm on the first OMJ rom then i need to flash Rom one for 1.7? I never did any OTA updates as I was waiting for OMJ to work all the kinks out.

So what's new in the is new ROM. After all of this I'm kind of hesitant on switching now. After all I've gotten 4G working, all my programs are there. I can watch videos with no problems. What could be the benefit of going to 1.7?

To flash ROM1, download PC36IMG.zip to your SD card. Power off phone, Hold down vol down + power. Once in bootloader it will scan & read PC36IMG.zip. When done, press vol up to apply the update, when done choose to reboot.

Do we need to wipe first? If so, I am guessing hold the volume when powering on and select wipe or something before putting it on the SD card, is that right?

ROM 1 is for you then.

OMJ included a few new apps but the MAIN reason for creating 1.7 was to properly update us to the new OTA software, radio and wimax.
If you dont have the latest 1.47 software or you are on 1.6 without the radio and wimax then ROM 1 is for you.
If you followed whitslacks method for getting the OTA software, radio and wimax then ROM 2 is for you but OMJ himself said it was not a significant update.

EDIT:
anfjc06 got it.
