Re: Obviously Stable ROM | Updated 12/25 | All Carriers | 21876 | 25MB PP Titanium/SP

I've been getting ready to flash again. After great 5 months without a hard reset on one of DRB's roms, I'm starting to have storage memory issues. I liked some of your other roms before you left the diamond. What does this one have?

I was actually gonna just kinda see what people wanted. Obviously I would just keep Titanium but what I would probably do is make it 6.5.5. Other suggestions?

How come nobody defaults all the cache, mail folders, text repository, temporary files and stuff to internal storage? That's what i think I'd like to see in a rom, but maybe there's a reason none of these great chefs have done that. Just throwing ideas out there, I know you can tweak these things with config tools, but if it works, why not set them on the rom?
My needs haven't really changed from my comments above from last year. I still think to conserve memory, anything that can be easily cab installed to internal storage you should just leave out of the rom and keep it simple (although if you do I might need cabs if they're typically included, ie camera, calculator, album, etc). I've been running DRB's 28014 and happy till recently when memory started getting tight, so 6.5 stable and simple is my preference, but the last 6.5.x I tried was 6.5.3, so maybe I'll find things in 6.5.5 to love, it's worth a try as long as I will be in burning mode again. I'm not really wild about finger friendly menus because they're too large and I find I prefer the smaller menus where send/receive is on my inbox page without sliding down, but that's just me. I only recently got back to smaller menus by accident when I was deleting programs and maybe deleted one or two too many items and lost the finger friendly menus! I like it better, but I also lost some labels on some menus & I don't know how to get them back! oh well ! lol

I'd want you to cook in a regeditor, a sashimi stub as well as voicecommand, office mobile, battery monitor, task manager, spb screenshot, pim backup, quickgps (and maybe wifi router) That's probably about it unless there are things you really like that only run from phone memory (and not internal storage). The latest version of NETCF (hopefully that properly describes what I'm thinking about) should probably be part of the rom as well. It's been 5 months since I burned a rom or even hard reset my phone, so my brain is a little rusty in this area, I'll probably have more input after I get back in burning mode. I kind of remember there's a better autodimmer than the stock one, but I've never tried it, it might be nice. I don't really know what keyboard or contact manager I have from DRB's rom, but whatever you think best, I'd like to try. I hate that my keyboard doesn't really fit in landscape and I've always had some weird problems with his contact manager, but I live with them both. They are an area that I'd love to work better in my next rom!

If you have a flashplayer that actually works, that would be great! I've yet to find one that works with dslreports or speedtest.net's fancier speed tests.

If there are things you leave out (like I'm suggesting) and you have a copy of the cab which you would otherwise install, it would be great if you post that along with the rom. I have most of the cabs which I would install, but having a collection of IE, opera(one with zoom wheel), bing, google maps, myphone on one page would probably help many, especially newbs (and make your thread very popular!) Other things I will install will definitely be sprint extras, HTCHOME2, devicelock 1.6 and sportypal, but I tend to stay pretty streamlined. The less toys, sometimes the better. The more things I can install in internal storage, the better for sure. I wish there was a cab that would just move all locations for inboxes, text messages and call logs and other things that grow to internal storage.

Things I currently have but probably don't use but I like having and don't really have cabs to install if I want them are games like chess, hearts, solitaire, g-sensor,

The only other thing I remember is I've kind of liked quickmenu, but I might have had issues or just never wanted to mess with a good thing so it hasn't been on my phone in 5 months, so I guess I can live without it.

Hope you like my input and don't just think I'm lazy and want you to do all the work, but you did ask for what we wanted! lol

Other things I have liked but don't have installed now or just don't really use, either from fear of instability or I needed the space or I just don't use much are advanced config, freecaddie, fm radio, facebook, skype, sprint tv.

Re: Obviously Stable ROM | Updated 12/25 | All Carriers | 21876 | 25MB PP Titanium/SP

What I might do is leave out Opera even and just make it a basic Titanium ROM with minimal software (I would definitely cook in VC, Office, a task manager, and battery monitor) and provide cabs. But honestly the start menu at the bottom is nicer IMO. I may release an updated 21876 because I found a bug in my last release with Opera being buggy and I put a 9.7 build on here and it's running fine. Anyone want it for now?

ok, maybe I don't really know what I run because my start menu is at the bottom, the one thing I don't like about that though is the taskbar upper right not having a good quicktaskmenu. It works, sort of , sometimes, but only by clicking the time just right, twice.

I'm ready to flash anytime, because my phone's a little flaky currently, so if you think you have a good stable rom, let's light this baby up! You have tried it on your old diamond, right? Hopefully I'm not the first guinea pig! If I do have problems I'll probably reflash with an older DRB 21887 I've been thinking about for 5 months but never tried, so I might only have one good test slot for you (I don't have any spare phones and I really can't afford much downtime). If yours runs well, I'll keep running it until I find any fatal flaws, but hopefully it will be rock solid for months (or I install something that breaks it)!

Re: Obviously Stable ROM | Updated 12/25 | All Carriers | 21876 | 25MB PP Titanium/SP

So far, so good. As I've told you in the past, I don't use titanium or other sliding home pages, I use HTCHOME2 and I've got it all configured. I was surprised the start was in the top left, I thought it was going to be on the bottom left. I was also surprised how much you have loaded, opera, bing, etc. I was hoping for opera with a zoom wheel, it didn't seem to work for that, is there a way to make it work like that? I also loaded bing 3 already because I like the navigation feature in it. Haven't had any problems yet, so I'll just keep plugging along. Thanks again. Seems zippy! lots of free memory, I'm showing 58M storage free, 100M program.

Yeah it runs good. I honestly built the ROM for my use only and I thought you might wanna see if it worked for your needs but yeah it runs good and still has plenty of space. I am thinking of leaning it down some for a 6.5.5 ROM. I know you hate flashing but wanted I could try it up.
